Oh man don't remind me of that horrible event ever again. I still have nightmares standing in DA waiting for a mob to pop just to watch bots claim it then being forced to watch them kill it for ToD.
LoL yup exactly @.@ Not the best of ideas and I for 1 hope they don't ever implant that stuff into this game, haha.
There's a psychological concept called reinforcement. If people who were willing to wait long amounts of time were given parties, and said parties were enjoyable enough then in their eyes the effort of waiting is justified. If it wasn't no one would ever have partied.
Consider this, if I wait for a party and I thoroughly enjoy it, I'll wait again for one. However, if the entire experience is horrible, I wouldn't subject myself to waiting.
Those who waited for a party, (in some cases) were willing to wait for something they saw as "worth the wait". You cannot speak for the masses when you say "you've got warped priorities" just because you saw this as a waste of time. This doesn't make you Lord Guru Master of time management.
I liked waiting for parties. I'd run laps around Jeuno. Just because I was willing to wait for a good thing, I've got warped priorities. It's people like you that make me sad.
I'm not saying FFXI is bad, I'm saying that the whole idea of having to wait a shitload of time to grab a party due to the fact that the game was designed to not have nearly anything possible without one was a HUGE misstep, and might be one of the bigger reason that the game was hemorrhaging subscribers after a certain point in its life. There's a psychological concept called reinforcement. if you want to know what is a shitload waste of time, it's ffxiv's solo-based combat system of 1-1-1-1-1-1.I'm not saying FFXI is bad, I'm saying that the whole idea of having to wait a shitload of time to grab a party due to the fact that the game was designed to not have nearly anything possible without one was a HUGE misstep, and might be one of the bigger reason that the game was hemorrhaging subscribers after a certain point in its life.
compared to ffxiv, it is worth waiting 2 hours in FFXI for the exhilerating party combat system. every normal fight could turn epic.
WTF? Solo-ing is the only time I don't spam 1.
There's absolutely nothing wrong with "waiting" to get stuff done in a video game (drop rates in some MMOs for example?) if people can justify that they have the right to be upset/angry over a video game.
