    It's been done before. It can be done again. If they can't think of something new and BETTER. Then just port it over. It's not gonna be the end of the world if a handful of spells and abilities from XI are on XIV. SERIOUSLY, just give it up already, SE....

    "Innovation" is NOT SYNONYMOUS with "improvement."
    Rasp, Choke, etc. all do the same thing in different elements. Also included: Tornado (and various same-tiered spells per element), Aero (see last parenthesis), etc. FFXI WSs were almost always just hitting a mob. So most of those can just be lumped together as not being unique at all except for their SC capabilities, type of damage (blunt, etc.), and last and least, their animations. Not really that unique.

    Things that were unique per job? A handful. Refresh, each 2hr, Convert, Utsusemi (not that unique with blink), Summons, all SCH-exclusive spells, higher-tiered Raises, and some-odd job abilities (Berserk, SA and TA, Sublimation, etc.).

    In the long run, there were only a handful of truly exclusive effects per job in FFXI and there were 20 jobs there. Here we only have 7 and, with the addition of combos, we truly have varying results from just very, very few abilities in comparing them with the huge pool of useless junk in FFXI. What's more, every single ability we have is completely exclusive to each class/job. The only reason we think it's so little is because the number is small, but if you take all the spells and WSs in FFXI, really most of them were prevalent natively in other jobs except the really obviously unique ones (everything BLU had, PUP, SMN, NIN, SAM).

    Regardless, we have such reign of freedom over the abilties we can equip from other classes on a class that our ability pool grows considerably larger. And jobs are able to be more unique than that while they still have a bit of worldliness in the cross-class stage.

    I like the current system. Why would a class/job need (throwing a number out there for giggles)100 different abilities? Then there wouldn't be a point for any other types of class/jobs in the game >_>

    When would you not be casting both shell and protect? Making them into 1 spell saves space and time. In FF11 you only ever cast Cure 3 and 5 on WHM. Now in 14 you have Cure for weak heals and Cura for strong Heals, with Curaga for multiple targets in certain conditions. You can do a lot with just those 3 healing spells.

    And what the hell about WS effects? Nearly every PGL, ARC, and LNC ws has some kind of debuff attached to it.

    90% of the previous spells and abilities weren't used. I think it's important to consider quality over quantity here and not forget the fact that there will be level cap increases. If this game has a run like FFXI, 10 years of updates and content trust me you'll have plenty of more actions abilities and spells. Right now we have a perfect balance of what we need and actually use.

    Dude(s) lol....I don't want to be more efficient. I want things to be enjoyable. There's nothing enjoyable about casting the same damn spell over, and over, and over again, every 5 minutes. If they increase the durations, and add shell, at least I feel like I have some versatility; or that I "remembered" to do my job better than the next guy; or SOMETHING. Not just "auto-play."

    Having multiple Tiers on spells ALSO added to that overall sensation. Using Cure II instead of Cure III for example, when someone is too close to full HP to justify a Tier III or a "Cura;" You save mp; you draw less hate, allegedly, and so on...

    I don't always want to choose between 500 dmg (aero) or 2000 dmg (aeroga)....What about everything in between? And don't even get me started on Answa's comments lol....

    Rasp, Choke, and all those you mentioned...did NOT do the same things, aside from being DoTs -anyway, enough said.

    Anyway, that's EXACTLY what has been done here. EVERYTHING has been dumbed down. You cast ONE spell to buff magic/phys defense. You have only TWO spells to cure a single target with. You have only a FEW WSs that are all DMG-intensive, rather than focusing on "strategic application" via special effects....like "binds target, blinds target, reduces evasion, reduces accuracy, reduces defense" and so on....

    And do you know WHY they can't give us TONS of SPELLS and WSs? Because of the CONVOLUTED action bar....
    I honestly don't get your logic:

    -WHM/CNJ Protect lasts 5 min ( so what just recast it and your good, gives WHM something more to do besides cure spamming all the time.
    -Protect and shell are together.. so what? Is it REALLY that big of a deal to make things a little more convenient? :?
    -This is FFXI this is FFXIV nothing wrong with the battle system now
    -Auto-attack rules out the "spamming 11111111111" till your blue in the face...

    This reminds me of that one Rokien thread.....

    Why does Rykan sound almost like.. Rokien......

    That's what Dia and Banish/Holy should be for...giving the whm more to do. Buffing every 5 minutes is just tedious. If all you ppl have so much trouble w/ A.D.D....how bout you just medicate, rather than ruin everyone's gameplay w/ these "positive" comments about this crappy system lol :P
