The zones we have are to be remade after cataclysmic destruction, they will be essentially different. It seems acceptable to me that some people may have been displaced by the cataclysm and bring new knowledge with them or that travellers help reshape the world in a new image. We do not neccessarily need far off new lands to introduce new lore when the whole world is being made anew. We cannot expect an expansion with 2.0 or possibly for some time afterwards, but these ideas allow for the introduction of some new jobs before an expansion.
BLU, COR and PUP was implemented very well in FFXI. It was well worth my money to travel to the Near East and experience that lore first hand. With your analogy, I'll like to add that SAM and NIN was brought to us by an expansion pack with new zones. The fact of the matter is the nature of these new jobs came from somewhere. The AF, the weapons, and skills all came from there. I don't want any lazy attempt offering me a cheap watered down experience especially since we're all paying customers.
