2.) They're already adding Odin as a randomly appearing NM. Even so, this just makes me think of dragons interrupting my travels in Skyrim. It was epic the first couple of times, and then it was just freakin' annoying. Odin sounds like enough of a pain -- end this idea with him. In a game that's trying to promote choice and variety, and give players a bunch of options for how to spend their time, I don't know why they would want to force us into doing things completely unrelated to our choices with random encounters like this. It's a contradiction in philosophy.2 Make it an open world HNM. That they can fly ALL over the world. So anywhere anytime you could very unfortunately run into then. and add a certain effect to the Zone that their in to know they are there.
3 make them lvl 100. I have to agree with alot of people if they Add Ultima we should be nowhere near be able to even phase him with our attacks. ... SE please dont ruin the weapons by making them Instanced based mobs. Id like to see one mob that a whole server could try to tackle together at least.
3.) A lot of people can barely run this game on a decent system as it is. I can't tell you how many people I see get lagged completely out of the game in the invasion events right now, and you want something that demands even more characters on the screen than that? Nobody would be able to load it all, let alone play smoothly in that type of setting. That's the price that we pay for the game's beautiful graphics. If you want something different, you'll have to play a crappier looking game that players can run more easily.
Even if you take the technology aspect aside, this is just a plain old terrible idea. Combine your request for 100 players being needed with your aforementioned request for it to be a random encounter, and what, you want Deathwing from pre-Dragonsoul Cataclysm? Sky turns red, and suddenly everyone's gotta pause what they're doing to flee as far from their camp as they can get, or their entire party get's one-shot? And what's worse, instead of doing a quick drive by, you want him to actually land and fight? TROLOLOL. Who cares if you're trying to do something fun? Having an enemy pop on your head, kill your party, steal your camp, and block you from getting back to what you doing until you gather 100 players to kill him is surely WAY more fun than whatever you might have been in the middle of.
And then what when it's dead? If the entire server's fighting this thing, who gets the loot? You think Hamlet gear's annoying right now? Can you imagine the outcry when people gather up 100 players only to have 99 walk away empty handed? Good luck convincing people to help with something like that.
Also, since when does something being instanced make it instantly ruined? Did you even play XI when the airship battle was originally released? Your server revered you as a king if you beat them during the eight or nine months before the CoP nerfs, and why? Because it was still a legitimate challenge worthy of the names Ultima and Omega at the time, even with it being instanced and only requiring one party! That marathon of a fight was placed in a climactic and powerful part of an intense story, too, so you felt like a frickin' champ when you beat that thing. And even if you weren't into missions, tell me you didn't drool over the forum footage of them shifting into their alternate forms in Limbus and owning full alliances for months.
I hate to say it, but even WoW can show you that instances can be rad, or at least it used to. Tell me that those Burning Crusade instances didn't manage to be challenging and fun at the same time, from the raids down to even the 5-man heroics (can anyone remember walking up to Murmur's room for the first time?). Or tell me that you didn't feel like David against Goliath the first time you challenged Algalon or Sinestra, which wasn't just because they were hard -- it was because instances allow a game a means for developing lore, so things build up to the point where you're overcome by your fear of the game's most powerful enemies before it's even time for you to draw your sword against them.
Plus the most powerful of open world NM's usually required items to used in order to spawn them, which was a trend that started even before ToAU released. That's basically instancing fights... the only difference being that you could kite them forever and ever in an open world, and even zombie your way through them, therefore reducing the challenge rather than adding to the epic-ness.
I want to see Ultima and Omega as much as the next guy, but for the love of god, make them fun. There are countless better ways to make a fight epic without simply adding the mobs as randomly encountered trolls that ninja-gank parties and can only be killed by an entire server full of rich computer enthusiasts. Instances have a very valid place in MMOs, and the game's most difficult enemies have a valid place in instances. I don't know why people forget this so often on these forums.

Seeing ultima as an artwork it kinda reminds me of "CoP" XI missions ultima and omega
maybe this time the empire is conducting some expermients on them who knows it doesnt have to be a weapon for the planet like 7
I've said it before and I'll say it again... Hundreds (OK, at least 50) of monsters are seen fleeing the explosion in the opening movie...
(Well... hundreds of little shooting stars, 2 of which released Ifrit and Titan)
So since it's entirely possible that each of those is a planetary monster... then maybe we are thinking too small
There could be LEGIONS of planetary weapons
The first might not be Omega OR Ultimate...
Maybe the first one we get is Tenacious Weapon... or unyielding weapon
Or even Bitchy Menstrual Weapon
the reason why it sucks if its instanced is cause then itll only take 8 people to bring them down which IMO is so boring. Id like to see LS go at it. Yes i played CoP fight on the airship. But you could fight Stronger versions later. with 18 people as it should be. If they have 2 version like the Primals fine make a low lvl ones instanced then make the harder ones open world.
