Not really, take a look at other FF games when you encounter these creations, usually you get the first glimpse or mention (if not side content) around the 2nd disk (or around the 20 hour mark), FFXIV is going on it's 2nd year and not even had 1 expansion pack yet, it's the perfect time. At that point people were getting raped and crying for their mommy/nerfs against XI's introduction of Ultima & Omega.
