These raids have killed most of my interest in the game currently.
I have done speed runs with my LS and I have gone out of my way to set up a public mumble to teach people how to do speed runs when I do public pick up runs when my LS isn't doing anything. I think I have geared my server better than I have geared myself while searching for DAT BODY. All-in-all I have done hundreds of runs, I stopped counting at 120ish (AV/CC combined) and that was over a month ago, I gave up middle of last week.

Alas~ I have given up the hunt. Waiting for next large patch.

Here's to GW2 Beta Weekends and The Secret World Beta Weekends!

CC/AV can bite my shiny metal ass. ~.~
And if this is what the dev. team has planned for post 2.0, they can bite my shiny metal ass too.

These dungeons are all about staying motivated and putting in the time. My linkshell does nothing but AV and Cutters since figuring out Garuda, determined to have all of our jobs outfitted with Darklight before 2.0 and/or as soon as possible.

It gets depressing sometimes. We've had our droughts. We did 100+ consecutive speed runs on a stretch 2 weeks ago and didn't see a single piece of Darklight drop. No hands, no heads, not even DL boots.
We stuck with it. We got through it. We stayed motivated. We've since gone on a Darklight tear and been extremely fortunate in our drops, averaging 3 a night.

The drop rates are fine. Sometimes frustrating, yes. Sometimes you feel like the FF Gods are punishing you, yes.
But then it breaks for you and your linkshell and you feel great about not only your new drop but the motivation and commitment put forth by everyone amid a sea of QQ `i give up, this isn't fair` QQ.

Now i'm two drops away from completing two full sets. Been a long and sometimes bitter road with many nights only bringing about the disappointment of nothing but Mage Pattens and Scorpion Shields. Now it's getting closer to being behind us.
Stop QQ'ing, keep your frustrations to within your own linkshell, and just keep at it.
The bad luck will break for those that remain motivated.

Darklight is rare and should remain so.
Asking SE is nerf the drop rates so that all of Eorzea has it in a week (these dungeons are not difficult...) is in fact only asking for SE to deprive you of the victory and fruits of the hard work you're all here claiming to have put in.
Chin up, food up, and keep at it.

There is bad luck and then there is darklight luck. I think my LS has had a total of about five nights off from CC/AV up to the start of this week since they were introduced. No bodies in that time isn't bad luck it is bad design.

Outside of a week or so break of Garuda, our LS has been focused on AV/CC pretty much day and night since they were implemented. We now have 97 pieces of Darklight in the shell. I dont know how many hundreds of speed runs as a shell we have put in since patch but it wouldn't surprise me if it was close to 1000 combined. Some times we have more than 1 party running them.

In all that time, we have never seen the Darklight Corselet drop yet. (We do have 9 body pieces) Pretty ridiculous.

We finally just got our first Corselet drop two nights ago.
Hoping it comes in a little wave. Would make a few friends very happy...

Honestly, the idea of speed runs in this game destroys the fun. My first DD and AV runs were speed runs, and I gotta say it is absolutely stupid that a dungeon filled with enemies is expected to be beaten by just training everything to the next teleporter. I've never been more bored in a game. I'll take gathering / crafting over the current dungeon system any day. I really hope this changes for 2.0.

You pointed out the exact problem. The raids are easy, the drop rates are punishing.
Should be the other way around.
Better raids that are actually fun to do.

Shitty drop rates that are basically all luck is not content difficulty.
I want a hard raid that rewards me with the gear I am seeking at the end.
Not an easy raid that punishes me for beating it as fast as possible.

Being rewarded for accomplishing feats in game is what keeps players around. Punishing them for doing speed runs with a shitty drop rate just drives them away from the content.

I don't have time to poke around 1000+ times in AV/CC for a single drop that I am seeking.
I'll go play other MMO's that don't punish their players for advancing in content.
And that's the conclusion many players have/will come to if this style keeps up.
Clearly that's not in favor of making FFXIV succeed.

Also: Just because you're willing to bash your head against easy content, with fake difficulty in the form of low drop rates does not make the content good. Nor does it mean everyone should shut their mouths and just deal with it. If we all kept quiet who is to say anything would change?

Everytime I see these threads pop, that confirms me that grinding classes and not putting too much effort in gear collection was the best strategy to take until 2.0.

A million billion trillion times this.

Also, for those folks who do spam this content like crazy to get the items, I bet you anything it becomes obsolete when 2.0 hits (or sooner). If you have that kind of time to waste, go for it. I don't. Sane people don't. Guess what? Terribad drop rates? Not going to bring in new subs. And will lose old subs.

If this isn't fixed by 2.0, anyone with sense will quit the game (or stop caring about lulz endgame). I'm totally down for cranking up the difficulty, even to crazy levels. But I won't put up with having to slog through content a thousand times because the drop rate is stupid low. That's not fun, or rewarding, or anything. It's just stupid.
