It gets depressing sometimes. We've had our droughts. We did 100+ consecutive speed runs on a stretch 2 weeks ago and didn't see a single piece of Darklight drop. No hands, no heads, not even DL boots.
We stuck with it. We got through it. We stayed motivated. We've since gone on a Darklight tear and been extremely fortunate in our drops, averaging 3 a night.

The drop rates are fine. Sometimes frustrating, yes. Sometimes you feel like the FF Gods are punishing you, yes.
But then it breaks for you and your linkshell and you feel great about not only your new drop but the motivation and commitment put forth by everyone amid a sea of QQ `i give up, this isn't fair` QQ.

Now i'm two drops away from completing two full sets. Been a long and sometimes bitter road with many nights only bringing about the disappointment of nothing but Mage Pattens and Scorpion Shields. Now it's getting closer to being behind us.
Stop QQ'ing, keep your frustrations to within your own linkshell, and just keep at it.
The bad luck will break for those that remain motivated.

Darklight is rare and should remain so.
Asking SE is nerf the drop rates so that all of Eorzea has it in a week (these dungeons are not difficult...) is in fact only asking for SE to deprive you of the victory and fruits of the hard work you're all here claiming to have put in.
Chin up, food up, and keep at it.
You pointed out the exact problem. The raids are easy, the drop rates are punishing.
Should be the other way around.
Better raids that are actually fun to do.

Shitty drop rates that are basically all luck is not content difficulty.
I want a hard raid that rewards me with the gear I am seeking at the end.
Not an easy raid that punishes me for beating it as fast as possible.

Being rewarded for accomplishing feats in game is what keeps players around. Punishing them for doing speed runs with a shitty drop rate just drives them away from the content.

I don't have time to poke around 1000+ times in AV/CC for a single drop that I am seeking.
I'll go play other MMO's that don't punish their players for advancing in content.
And that's the conclusion many players have/will come to if this style keeps up.
Clearly that's not in favor of making FFXIV succeed.

Also: Just because you're willing to bash your head against easy content, with fake difficulty in the form of low drop rates does not make the content good. Nor does it mean everyone should shut their mouths and just deal with it. If we all kept quiet who is to say anything would change?
