Should you finish the main Senario before 2.0

I have been avoiding playing the main scenario before 2.0. It was mentioned that they would redo the cutscenes and add full voice acting to all of the main scenario cut scenes, but not change the storyline. Part of me just want to play it so I can see the differences so I could just make a new character after 2.0 releases. I am torn.

Where'd you get that from? Last I heard they're only making adjustments and adding new characters into it.

They stated any quest/storyline quest you have started when 2.0 goes live next year will be reverted to a starting state due to changes in layout and probably actual storyline changes.

So if you want the gil from doing it now (since lord knows most people don't really care for storyline in MMOs) I'd suggest it, as they'll no doubt reduce the overall reward from it. If you're one of the few who care for storylines, I would suggest finishing it if you already started it, if not you can likely hold off. "Voicing" sounded more like the story after the current storyline will be what's in the new format, since a lot of the major cutscenes are already voiced.

Only the 7th umbral era storyline is being throw out once 2.0 hit, not the main storyline.

What story line does "7th Umbral era" entail exactly? I just assumed that was the current nickname for the "main story line, later to be thrown out".

I really hope they add a lot more storyline quests, like have a new main story line, a city story line for each city, Grand Company story lines, class story lines (and make they much longer/better than this 3 quest per class bull that we have now), job quests beyond the current ones.

They should really put in more of what's expected in an RPG game, early RPG like FFIV and VI, despite it being MMO.

Uhn... To put it in as unspolery words as possible:
The 7th Umbral Era part of the plot involves the 'the world is going to end' part of it.
There are other elements in the main storyline (garleans, the special ability that every PC has, primals, deaspected crystals).

How, exactly, it all interacts and what will happens post 2.0 is for then, and only then.

I suggest you do the main storyline regardless, at the very minimum it will be vastly altered.
