I like "character development" that's why games like Demon's/Dark Souls, Armored Core, Skyrim and such are very appealing to me, I just like collecting gear and optimizing it for different situations, and of course the social aspect is a big draw for me and thats why I play MMOs.

My issue with FFXIV

FFXIV is kind of robbing me of that feeling/satisfaction I get from MMOs since most of the "collectables" are weak and unimpressive, craftables in most cases are just blanks to put materia on, and when the semi-decent darklight gear came out I was encouraged to work for it, then discovered that its just a faux difficulty scheme by SE and finding people interested in doing events the "classic" way instead of just changing and stacking jobs through out the run got me some weird looks and many found my "refusal to adapt to the modern times" laughable.

Why am I still here? I guess I still can't let go of the "Next FFXI" dream and probably won't unless 2.0 turns out to be a massive disappointment.
