The Rising 2026 reward *spoilers*

One of the craziest whiplashes this game has given me. It's how Wuk Lamat was like universally disliked at the start of the expansion, and now on Reddit and the forums, it's like everyone changed their tune and suddenly likes her.

What whiplash?
People who hated her before still hate her and those who don't didn't change either?
Both sides simply got quiet and tired of the discussion.
I also haven't changed my negative opinion about her.


As for the topic:
I honestly just hope that the actual Rising event itself is more closer to its past days than it's later ones.
It was once a really great event like with the 8 Bit dungeon or the Monsters in Ul'Dah before the devs lost interest in actually developing them.
I hope Valentine's and Hatching Tide are good signs for it but I believe that when I see it.

The rewards are whatever for me.
I don't use Minions anyway so I never cared much who they add.

Dawntrail writing might be bad, I adore Wuk Lamat and cant wait to have her minion.

Not really a fan of her, but I always liked her design and the minion is cute. Would have preferred a Koana minion though.

People who do this "Oh, the more I saw of her, the more I hated her" are weird af.


Like, why do you all then not hate the twins or Zenos? Both got forced on the WoL as someone we, the players, HAVE to like. But them doing it with Wuk suddenly is the issue?

Jokes on you, I hate the twins and Zenos as well. Zenos was 'alright' (more meh) right up until after they decide "oops not dead" and after that I was just straight up done with him and his WoL fixation. Also have always always ALWAYS hated Alphinaud and think Alisae fawning over us is as annoying as G'raha.

Even then, none of that matters as people are allowed to dislike who they are and Wuk Lumat as a very poorly handled character even compared to them. The worst part is, the character had potential if the writers actually had the chops. Instead she became repetitive (which is why people grew to dislike her when liking her at the start), ham fisted, and honestly (and I hate that I am about to use this word) cringe as hell. Especially during the whole sequence leading up to and after the Queen Eternal fight.

Back on Topic: I still think they could have given us someone else as a minion, but I could care less. I'll forget I have it in about five seconds. The music should be interesting at least.

Probably to make it even more obvious than it already was that Dawntrail had a ton of FFX in it, too. Living Memory is Zanarkand.

Interesting. I never play 10 so I wasn't aware of the zanarkand plot. So even living memory is lifted from older FF game, huh...

Bold of you to assume I didn't hate them as well. Okay maybe not alphinaud since he at least isn't our fanboy, but alisae and zenos? Hate them. Oh, and add graha while you're at it too. That catboy should stay a crystal statue smh.

Btw I sure hope zenos is perma dead this time. There's nothing more immersion breaking than the story imposing battle junkie personality on my WoL that he considered zenos a rival.

It's not a direct lift, not the way the FFIX stuff was so obvious with Alexandria and Linblum and Garnet Sphene, but Zanarkand in FFX was, more or less, a mythical land filled with the memories of the dead held together by violently preying on the living. It had to be dispersed for the living to move on with their lives.

The land around Mamook is also from FFX--all those blue plants and whatnot. It was called Macalania in FFX. There's a good bit more; Dawntrail was a fair bit more subtle about the FFX inspiration than it was the FFIX.
