Losing Our House and How to Solve the Problem

I'll try to keep this as short as possible.

I think we can all agree that losing our house because we want to take a break from the game, or can't afford a sub due to financial reasons, simply sucks. The effort required to get a house in the first place (or rather, the luck involved) is already significant, not to mention the gil and time spent decorating it.

Our private island already has enough space to place a house of any size. That alone would solve most of the problem: everyone could have a house, whatever size they want.

But what if you want to live in a neighborhood? No problem. Once you've acquired a house, you could relocate it to a neighborhood plot if you prefer.

Instead of a demolition timer, we could simply have a relocation timer. After 45 days of inactivity, rather than your house disappearing into oblivion, it would automatically relocate back to your private island plot.

No house lost. No furnishings lost.

(Of course, this would only apply to private housing, not Free Company housing.)

Here an idea. If you're going to do this.

Just give everyone a Instanced house and turn off the demo timer. Creates the same result.

If scarcity is a problem, then scarcity as a concept needs to be removed.

If scarcity is removed, the very reason the demo timer exist also needs to be removed.

Honestly just make it so anyone can buy any plot. It instead of static neighbours, it'll change every now and then pulling hoses from random other large/medium/small plots.

Sure it ruins immersion a little but at least everyone can get a house and not have it tied to sub.

You're still in denial about the fact that there are technical limitations involved.
If someone truly wants a house and is worried about maintaining a $12.99 subscription solely to prevent auto demolition, there are alternatives available.

One option is creating an FC with trusted friends.
FC houses are not subject to the same activity requirements as personal houses.
As long as a member enters the FC house within the demolition period, the house remains safe.

In practice, this means several players can share responsibility for maintaining the property.
If one member takes a break, another can simply enter the house and reset the timer.
The result is that everyone retains access to housing without every individual needing to maintain a continuous subscription.
That's not a perfect solution, but it does demonstrate that the game already provides a mechanism for groups of players to preserve housing ownership during periods of inactivity.
