    Battle High in Frontline

    The reduction of Battle High has been removed since last patch.

    This change ruined Frontlines pretty much.

    Please consider adding it back. The whole match is now being dominated early on by simply nuking both sides. If coordinated well via Commander, it can lead to instant winning matches. It's simply impossible to win against the leading force, or even gain BH at all. Thx.

    If I can deal with an entire army of Bards, Machinists, and White Mages, then I honestly don’t see the issue.
    Drop a countdown macro, coordinate a Meteor Drive the marked target, and the team can still secure kills just fine.
    It’s whether people are willing to follow calls and focus targets.
    I just need teammates who stop whining, stop arguing in chat, and actually hit the target that’s marked.

    I honestly hate using my RPR/MNK LB on VPR's 30 second, resetting CD. There is no reason GNB and VPR should be at 55/60% damage reduction. I could make an argument for GNB being at 45% with how much healing, DR, and innate movement speed of its kit. At least before the patch it meant losing their BH5. Now they come back to the fight before my LB is even back up.

    I would remove BH entirely, and add instead a timed small buff when you get a kill, and a smaller one when you get an assist, but can't be refreshed if you get another kill/assist when having it to avoid the same issue as BH. But that's not the main issue, is also the premades and the couch commanders guiding the match like it's some kind of high-stakes e-sports tournament. And most of the players that just join for the rewards and don't care about following or anything.

    Actually is just FF's pvp being the worst one ever now I think of it.

    Frontlines have felt so miserable to me in Dawntrail.

    Everyone does too much damage, there's too much ranged & tank stacking, and you're typically already dead anytime you try to use guard

    I really think it should just be removed altogether. PvP should be down to the players skill IMO, not down to whoever managed to stack BH first.

    I DO like not losing it when I die, though, but then I queue solo and it is not really changing my matches all that much, it’s still mostly 3 teams of bad who spend more time arguing than fighting, many of whom still cannot manage to get BH5 throughout a match.

    Some peeps just want to win regardless of the stakes, it's as simple as that. Be worried when that desire to win crosses over into underground stuff... but outside of that, not much you can do about personalities. Those or the "I'm here for participation rewards stfu" ones.

    I'm not sure though, is it really that different from some other MMOs with PvP in it right now? In GW2 last I was playing, and then by proxy, has had WvWvW devolve into essentially the same thing you see here. Imo worse. When I see those bot-players huddle with the mark, spamming their boons on rote, and with that breathing down the neck orgy-like proximity it-... gives me the ick. It really does. They won't move unless the mark moves, even just slightly. It's just really creepy to me. It's like only the commander gets to play with any conscious thought.

    It's such a contrast to when I actively played, and I was in what you could consider a tryhard alliance then (that dominated the US in earlier states of the game). I was the scout party leader for my individual guild, but sometimes it would be just myself performing those duties. There was real application for those sorts of smaller bands, while the main forces slugged it out at the bigger keeps.

    Now a lot of those side objectives seem to be a whatever thing, while the rest is just "join up with your local kitten-branded and mush ye dogs" and it'll all be taken care of by that clump. Solo'ing has no cause, they're just considered pointless rats out to make a nuisance of themselves (or hardcore grief) with no direct bearing on the overall effort. At least in FFXIV I'm reducing points, sometimes quite meaningfully lol.

    I'd like to say... making a FL mode that's more like that WvWvW (just having more objectives to tackle, so like RW I guess), and thus like some dusty concept art that existed for this game would be swell, but then, will it or won't it just end up more like that? That'd be a shame.

    As for the OT, yeah, I would want to see it reverted. Don't like this lack of punishment for being too ballsy, and then also the instant respawning. Depending on where the clash is taking place that lack of downtime AND the not losing BH makes priority target takedowns feel rather hollow. It sucks, sorta.

    The 'couch commanders' are just PvP enjoyers who have become tired of getting stuck in game after game of an uncoordinated, passive rabble of 'teammates', most of whom have a very basic knowledge of FL at best and many of which don't seem to see why they should put any effort into a duty that they queued for. They're just trying to bring some sense of coordination to the team in the hope of maybe scraping the win. Unfortunately, despite their efforts to help, they're usually met with totally unwarranted abuse from the very team they're seeking to support.

    Whilst the sentiment is good, in practice, it would only lead to further PvP avoidance.

    Currently, BH acts as an incentive to engage in PvP - if you do, you get rewarded with a buff, if you don't you're going to really struggle later down the line. While it shouldn't be the case that people need an incentive to PvP in a PvP duty, if BH is removed altogether, more players will default to the already huge issue of PvP-avoidance, objective-focus. The argument will quickly become that PvP should be actively avoided because it contributes little and only risks losing points, making the whole duty nothing more than an objective-farming simulator.
