    Scrapped guild?

So I was around Limsa Upper near the cullinarian guild and I saw this:

If the sign color key (which are persistent between cities), its pointing to a guild that doesnt exist. It makes it seem like the admirals gunslinger class was going to be available at one point but might have been scrapped?

Yeah, I believe a "Musketeer" class/job was intended, I'm not sure if it's holdover from 1.0 or was meant to be a new 2.0 class. Interesting how they never removed it. Obviously we have MCH now so it's hard to imagine how Musketeer could see the light of day. Maybe if combined with Cannoneer. A dual-pistol job sounds neat especially with no lunchbox.

We have 6 Jobs that use some style of sword, PLD DRK GNB SAM VPR RDM, I think it is fair to say another gun job that uses its gun in a completely different manner would be fine.

    I vote Gunner.

It is pretty much just a remnant of 1.0
Musketeer was one of the planned classes during 1.0, together with Fencer, Enforcer, Arcanist (supposedly very different from the one we got), Mystic and Assassin.

They did advertise Machinist in the MSQ by having Merlwyb do things with a gun. But due to it being a Heavensward job, they placed it in Ishgard. If they made the job today, they would obviously have put it in Limsa Lominsa, probably where ever that sign is pointing.

From what I understand most of those planned but never implemented classes either never really existed in any tangeable form save a name and a rough idea how it was meant to function, and what was done on them has undoutabley been cannibialized for current Jobs (MSK clearly was used for MCH - so much so a 1.0 MSK NPC was involved in the early MCH Job quests to teach the player gunplay, FCR probably was built on for RDM, Mystic served as AST's foundation, etc etc).

I have heard anecdotes though about 1.0's Alpha test that MSK and 1.0 ACN did get to a playable stage and were in fact playable by testers, but for whatever reason were quickly removed and never brought back upon 1.0's release. Whether that is true or not I cannot say, as I was not on the 1.0 Alpha or Beta tests, and NDA would still probably be in effect for it anyway, so it's entirelly possible it's just an urban legend.

There was also a fourth Disciple of the Land (gatherer) class called Shepherd that was never implemented either, but had a class icon and a locked guildhall in 1.0 Falcon's Nest (unlike the MSK's Guild, this did not survive into ARR).

Yeah, most of them were incredibly barebones if not in early concept stages and never got released. The most we have is the Musketeer NPCs in the Marauder's guild that existed in 1.0 and still do now, with a flintlock pistol and a basic shooting animation.

I wouldn't even be surprised if the ideas for Musketeer and old Arcanist were merged into Machinist, since 1.0 Arcanist was supposed to use some kind of aether gadgets.
Although I wouldn't say no to a gunslinger job with less pointless flips and rocket launchers.

This one should honestly make a comeback. I imagine it was meant to be for collecting the monster materials like meat, feathers, bones, scales, etc that we currently have to farm by laboriously killing enemies that drop them or sending out combat retainers.

I picture something similar to how Lady plays in Devil May Cry 4 (just minus the rocket launcher)

Yeah, a regular gunner is a really highly requested job as Machinist drifts further and further away. Shoot, the quest series has us hunting down our Lominsan corsair trainer that bailed from the job in Ishgard. It was SUPPOSED to be Machinist, but not anymore.
