Merchant's Tale Coloring Painful For Photosensitivity - Please Adjust

I'm not really sure where we're supposed to give this kind of feedback as it is not technically a bug, so I will put it here.

I'm on an immunosuppressant that makes me photosensitive. I've never had problems outside of the actual sun causing headaches, but I tried to go into Merchant's Tale last week and immediately got a migraine. I have tried a few different color changes in game with the accessibility settings, but it's not making it any better. As it is, the contrast hurts enough that the dungeon is unplayable.

I know this isn't the first time this has been an issue, but... yeah.

    Thanks for your time.

I actually had some issue with it, there is some chromatic aberration going on there and it visibly causes my hair to gain a blue hue, which is absolutely not there in any other situation, and looks like some reshade filters I seen on other people's screenshots before, I feel it is only bad on the very first screen because the town looks like it is made of candy, but it is still so.

It's a common feedback that they get, but they rarely do much with it. Only time they did was in the Nier raid and it wasn't enough.

I know its not an ideal solution, but have you considered tweaking the colors on your display or TV for while you are in Merchant's Tale? Or if you are on PC with an Nvidia GPU you can try their built-in Nvidia App filters to mute or tweak the colors, and then its just a simple toggle on/off.

Bouncing off of this, I really wish they had better accessibility options for people with vision problems and photosensitivity, and also made their existing settings clearer. I had to deal with the horrible screen blur on fire IV casts and other abilities for months before I found out that there was even a setting to turn it off.

It'd be great if they had an in-game setting to mute colours for people with photosensitivity, and that way they could feasibly leave the dungeon/shaders the same for people who don't have that issue. For now, though, what Vespar mentioned with adjusting display/nvidia filters is probably your best shot.

tons of popular games have a graphic style similar to the new variant... I think people expect way too much from SE

If you're using a Windows Machine (I don't know about other OS options), Night Time mode on a high strength, perhaps? Might look a little odd but it will cut down on the blue light that usually does that. Speaking as another person that can get bad headaches from some games.

"Hey google, How many practical ways are there to tone down brightness on a PC for photosensitivity?"

    1. Lower the Monitor Brightness (Hardware Control)
    2. Reduce Contrast
    3. Night Light / Blue-Light Filter
    4. Dark Mode
    5. Reduce White Point / Color Intensity
    6. Use Software Screen Dimmers
    7. Adjust Gamma
    8. Reduce Room Lighting Contrast
    9. Use a Monitor with Low Brightness Capability
    10. Physical Screen Filters

    Most effective combo for photosensitivity:

    Lower monitor brightness

    Night Light or f.lux

    Dark mode everywhere

    Software dimmer overlay

    Bias lighting behind the monitor

Extra tip: If your photosensitivity is severe (for migraines or neurological sensitivity), the biggest relief often comes from lowering brightness + reducing blue light + reducing contrast simultaneously.

Challenge the weak to make them strong.
