It really doesn't, exactly because you can solo it. Even advanced only needs two people to deal with every mechanic.
If you're trying to do the 12 different routes achievements it's arguably better to do it solo than with random matchmaking.

It would just be nice to add trust I even thought the NPC who goes with you could have joined in the fighting it would have made it a little more interesting. I love the trust system I love FFXI and as someone has already stated they are updating their trusts.
FFXIV has been around for a long time now I have been here for 16 years so it is not a bright shiny new game anymore and old content would be more accessible for newer players and those who like myself enjoy the company of NPCs . It would do no harm. The trust system could be expanded on with other NPC's you have met.
I will however get back on topic and say that FFXIV has become lazy in its rewards. If you do savage then you should be rewarded but if you do mid core like myself you should also be rewarded and so on.
Tomes and fireworks are bad. I do my Island sanctuary and yes some of the rewards where really great but then nothing and I do my farm then open a loot box it is a firework, materia stairs. I have opened so many GC boxes and again it is the same old crap.

Sure, I just think it's worth pointing out that this is a pattern with the devs. Players complain about one aspect of a New Thing and the devs take that as the players not liking that entire Thing at all so they just stop doing it (until a couple of expansions later when players have spent years asking "What happened to That Thing?"). I can see why some have that impression, but I'm not sure I'd call it a case of the devs being lazy or blind as much as just taking any slight criticism or complaint as the players actively waging war against them on that subject. There's no nuance or actual understanding of what the players are criticizing (take the consistent and very well explained complaints about healing in the game for example), it's just taken as The Players Hate This So Lets Not Do It.Let’s be honest even if the devs dump it because of said complaints it’s still not the complainers fault because everyone has been crystal clear about the nature of the complaints
Not saying anyone here is doing it but people do have a habit of blaming complainers when content is dumped when it’s obvious square is either blind or lazy

SE does not need communication super powers to find out what the players don't like about that. Personally I'm wondering how that ever went live - they love their formulas so much, so why deviate from a precedent the players already got used to?

They've been trying to draw people into higher-difficulty content for a while but have started trying much harder in DT. This is just their latest attempt, which is presumably also why the Aloalo savage weapons are available through it.Variant dungeon 1 gets released, with a mount as reward.

I hope this latest attempt works out--it's a really nice stepping stone difficulty, and I've already seen people in Party Finder say they had fun with it and they'll give Extremes a try because of it.

I think it's more they're desperately trying to create another collectable because they're running out of ideas for mounts and minions. The problem is, people just aren't nearly as excited about umbrellas or eyewear. They just need to accept fashion accessories are never going to be as desirable a chase item.
"Stand in the ashes of a trillion dead souls and ask the ghosts if honor matters."
"The silence is your answer."
It doesn't have to be a mount, I think a glam item could work fine as the reward, as long as it actually ties in to the content. How about the Swordmaster's outfit? The problem as I see it is they took the mount from Variant and gave it to Advanced without any plan to replace it. And the carpet mount appears to be a recolor of a Mogstation mount to begin with. Rig up a 2-seat version of that for Advanced instead. Anything.I think it's more they're desperately trying to create another collectable because they're running out of ideas for mounts and minions. Which doesn't seem to be going too well for them, tbh. I don't know why they can't accept that some people just don't want to do high end content. I sure hope it's not because SE hopes it means they'd have to spend less time making content that isn't raids.
That was fun! I'm going to take a 21 hour nap now~
After an entire expansion of trying it, you'd have thought they would... Take a hint.
