A reminder that hardcore players get everything they want while the rest of us are told "Pay your sub and turn a blind eye to the faults/neglect."

The Devs make the Savage content first, they love to do Savage content, and they only make normal content to pay the bills. If they didn't have to feed the normies, I have a feeling it would be all Savage, if not Ultimate level.

This is where WoW did it better, they made normal first, then upped it for the mid-tier raiders and lastly cranked it to the max for the hardcore raiders. Each tier was well balanced, fun and could stand alone on its own without trouble.

The main character option was funny, genuinely you guys need to learn to make fun of yourselves.

You laugh at yourself when you make a mistake and have the humility to acknowledge it.
We did nothing wrong when we voiced our dissent about how blatantly awful Dawntrail and its narrative are, which is further hammered home by the passive-aggressive shot they took here.

When I saw the option, I got a little laugh. Because the idea of Wuk Lamat walking into that cutscene derailing everything was funny. Because of Dawntrail the story is now meaningless going forward.

I love White Knight Chronicles. It lets you make your own character who is a mute background character for just about all of story. (You don't even need the optional giant suit of armor to feel as important as the protagonists.)
Your character travels with the protagonists and shows up in cutscenes and you can also choose to play as them outside of a few forced moments, much like how MSQ makes you play as NPCs.
The big deference between that and Dawntrial. The story and characters in White Knight were good.

Jokes would be a lot better if they were done after-the-fact, and not during the same period where the issue is taking place.

Had they made these cracks in 8.0 whilst delivering... I would probably find it quite comedic... But when you're doing it in the same period as the issues... It just comes along as poor sport.

As it goes... There is a time and a place for jokes to be had

Hmmm...I wonder what would happen if they would just remove weapons from the next Ultimate and give them a face accessory for completing it instead. A stupid looking one at that.

Throw on a glow and you bet a not all that insignificant number would wear it. Mayhap without it too! The status symbol aspect is too tantalizing for some. How else do you get an, again, not that insignificant number paying for prestige? Or if not, binning the gaudy tat once the scarcity or exclusivity is threatened? Not all of them are like that, granted, but a fair number of them are.

Now if you really want a riot, we close down FFLogs and tomestone.gg, that'd be a lark~ though it could be argued that those are at least not vanity object based. Vanity yes, but it's not getting in your face if you don't give a damn.

Gosh it really is complicated this balancing of fashionable pixels, isn't it? Not an enviable position to be in as a dev.*

*To be clear, I am not defending the stacking mound of other iffy design decisions though. Still. Sometimes it's hard to see which folks would be disgruntled regardless of how good content is if the reward at the end is lacklustre to them. Those types are not great for feedback right now when making enduring content is a problem here. If the overall gameloop is bad it all falls apart and we have wasted sections of the game (which are many in this 'un's case).

That a lot of stuff in this game is propped up by merely the reward (and the moaning that often goes along with "having to do" that stuff) is a sign of something very consistently wrong. Given it affects both sides of the fence evidently.
