How will SE respond to WoW's new housing system?

Every auction has plenty of competition - if you're on Aether, Primal or Crystal, where the highest population worlds are. Part of what makes the system in FFXIV bad is that a high population world gets the same number of plots as a low population world (except when you're playing on Materia where they add wards then don't make the plots available for sale).

Then if we look at the "plenty of competition" where it does exist, it's much heavier on the medium and large plots than on the small plots because there are as many if not more bids coming from players trying to relocate than from those trying to get their first house. It doesn't reflect an overall lack of housing for the most part; it reflects an overall lack of desirable housing plots because 67% are small, 23% are medium and 10% are large.

The item density drops with every increase in plot size, Mansions are really bad when it comes to item to space ratio, its too sparse for the space given. But its the most sought after.

While Smalls have an un-intrusive layout and a decent item/space ratio. An tends to be passed up on. Because they outwardly arnt as large.

Small is actually my preferred interior/exterior layout, unless they go wild and add more layout options down the road. While I’ll definitely be happy for the extra slots in 7.5, I do like how my small feels filled, even as I get annoyed about hitting that item limit! I think even after the limit increase, larges will still have a time filling the space without blocking things off. I definitely think the interior size remodel will bring more competition for smalls, but I think some will still want a matching interior/exterior. Of course, I still think there should be an instanced option available, particularly to supplement supply on high pop worlds, because all sizes see high competition there.

What I’d most like to see them copy from WoW, regardless of whether they keep the system mostly the same or eventually add some kind of instanced housing, are the placement options (Z-axis, rotate in mid-air if you want, etc.), layout customization and the multiple dyes for furniture. Even if it’s only in the already-instanced interiors for the first two on my list. Make the most of what instanced spaces can do, even if we never get a full instanced (interior plus exterior) option.

Another feature I really want to see, and I don’t know if WoW has this or not, is the ability to save layouts. Like save the complete state of your home, furniture placement and all, so you could make different layouts to switch between without having to tear everything down and start from scratch. I would have a different layout for each season if that were the case!

Yeah my priority for wow inspired housing system changes would be having Vertical Rotation be Priority #1, while XYZ placement and ability to float items without using plugins would be Priority #2, and finally, my Priority #3 would be Furnishing Size Scaling Slider. Simply adding vertical rotation would enable so many ideas, themes, and concepts to come to life!

One example I can think of is if I wanted to make a Skate Park, currently you would not even be able to make any ramps other than a jank version of a half-pipe by using White Screens that have the upper portion too tall and straight so you can't have proper coping. But if we had Vertical Rotation, I could knock the White Screen onto its back and use the front of it as the top to actually build a proper Half-Pipe. Then I could use flooring mat and rotate vertically at whatever angles to make regular Kicker-Ramps. This is just one build concept, but the possibilities are literally endless.

I desperately hope that by 7.55 we can have Vertical Rotation+ ingame. The future could be so exciting! I love you, SE ♥
