Allow Summoners to /egiglamour Carbuncle into Eos or Selene

Hello devs and community!

Currently, Summoners can use /egiglamour "Carbuncle" "Ifrit-Egi" (or Titan-Egi/Garuda-Egi) to make Carbuncle look like one of the classic Egis, and vice versa for Egis into Ruby/Emerald/Topaz Carbuncles.

My suggestion: Let us /egiglamour "Carbuncle" "Eos" or /egiglamour "Carbuncle" "Selene" so our Carbuncle can transform into those beautiful fairies.

Why?

Symmetry: Both jobs share the Arcanist roots; why not share more glamours?
No balance impact: Purely cosmetic, resummon required like always.
Easy to implement: Models already exist, just enable the option for SMN.

I mean I know lore has no bearing on job or class design anymore but I feel like this is going a bit too far. Fairies are an aetherial construct exclusive to Scholars, specifically their soul crystals.

It wouldn’t make any sense for a Summoner to summon one from that perspective, because they’re using the wrong soulstone and have no way of accessing the ‘fairy’ in the first place beyond unequipping their soul crystal and replacing it with a Scholar one lol (and thus ceasing to be a ‘capital s’ Summoner)

Again though, I know it’s just for glamour so none of that is relevant when combined with the reality of ‘lore no longer reflects gameplay’. But personally I’d rather see them go back to having at least some congruence between lore and gameplay, such as not having cross-class pet glamours. Amongst many other things too, of course.

Carbuncles are classically DPS aetherial construct from Arcanist lore, not shield/healers. Yet SMN carbuncle can casts Radiant Aegis and SCH can glam Eos → Carbuncle making it a healer.
Also, since summons apparences depends on the aether of the caster, it would make sense that players who main SMN/SCH have access to fairies legally in-lore. This glamour would just be a cosmetic nod to multi-job life.

I mean, Carbuncle makes sense in reverse because every (player) Scholar is/was an Arcanist so it stands to reason they’d remember how to summon it, especially since it doesn’t require a soul crystal. Hence why they can turn Eos into Carbuncle, but not into any of the three Egi.

Frankly I have no idea what the lore says about ‘multi-jobs’. My assumption was that lore-wise it’s ’one (main) soul crystal job per person’ but that probably only applies to NPCs anyway. I’m honestly not sure how they treat the fact we throw soul crystals around like candy lol.

I’m not sure what ‘machine gun eos’ means but somehow I don’t think that’s what the Nymians had in mind when they ‘pulled her out their hats’ lol

And that’s not to say like ‘they should never do this cuz my interpretation of lore and subsequent immersion’ lol just I’d kinda prefer if they didn’t in this case personally. But then, as I mentioned they don’t really care much about ‘lore matching gameplay’ anyway, so it’s not like there’s much actually stopping them from doing it if it’s what people want.
Carbuncle only does Radiant Aegis anyway so they could port over the Embrace animation for it

I remember MSQ cutscenes where the Warrior of Light equips different soul crystals/jobs, and many NPCs like Alisaie or Alphinaud change jobs during MSQ. With that in mind, I can't agree with the idea of "one soul crystal job per person." Also, soul crystals are more like a speed-run option to access job knowledges without taking full classes/training.
I'm also thinking about cross-class spells: forgetting them after removing the crystal doesn't make sense (at least before they removed the feature).

If the main problem is keeping job identity, then they shouldn't have made it possible to turn SCH/SMN pets back to Carbuncles in the first place – Carbuncles are the ACN identity, not SMN/SCH.

The option should be available for players who main both SCH and SMN.

Really? Between the homogenization we already have and all the homogenization between the jobs you guys ask for here on the forums, may as well. Heck our job specific gear isnt even job specific anymore thanks to ppl on here complaining about how they can't glam this or that.

If you want a fairy, play scholar. Let the smns be their own thing.

I get the frustration with homogenization – rotations getting similar does suck. But this is purely cosmetic pet glamour, like the cross-job ones we already have.
It's even "lore-relevant", pet appearances are chosen by the caster via arcanima gems (Ruby/Topaz/Emerald based on your aether) – fairies would just extend that for multi-job mains.

You're free to vent here, but getting upset at more glam options is a stretch – especially since job-specific gear is now fully glam-free. That's off-topic anyway.

Blacklist anyone in dungeons rocking "wrong" gear/pets if it bugs you – but don't speak for everyone.

considering we are able to cross-glam tomes from SCH to SMN and visa verse now i dont think giving smn the sch fairies would be the biggest crime. maybe the quest would require sch unlock to do it. i find that most people dont use egiglamour in general and if people think it breaks the lore, they simply dont need to use it.
it'd fit one of my characters really well personally :') ! i think it's a cute idea !
