It's 10 minutes when you have one character. It's more when you have more. It's just 1 game to do sigh. Solo I agree it takes a lot more games but do it with party of 4 (can easily find game with randoms) and do all 5 cakes. Once you do that, you get 150 or something and that's enough to buy everything + many housing items. It's 10 minutes event for God's sake.
Previously people cried how they didn't have anything to do for events, now when they have something it's "way too hard, 10 minutes plz".
Yes surely the game doesn't have anything more than running around and avoiding mammoths but what can you do. Finish it and never look back if that's your thing.
Moreover, there isn't even any mechanic. There's nothing. It's a back and forth errand. Mindless and pointless. It's what this game needs less of, not more.

You queued current party by yourself didn't you.

man you sound miserable

Must be a real joy to play games with you!
I could see someone coming up short on tokens if doing it solo. I know I did, since there's only really enough time to complete one cake alone. It only took one more group run to get all the chocolate I needed though, and I had a ton left over that I ended up throwing away.
I found the mini-game fine overall (and certainly more engaging than a lot of previous events with nothing to do but gpose somewhere), but I still find it telling that when met with a new piece of group content, my first instinct was to try it alone to make sure I wouldn't screw it up and have people mad at me. Having to "parse" for a mini-game sounds about right for FF14 though, lol.

A timewasting chore. Boring, completely unfun, 10 minute long slog. With a good chance that you will need to waste another 10 minutes to get all the items.
And what do you need to do in the instance? Mindless running, like an NPC, from one point to another. Just mindless 10 minutes long time waste, no challenge, no interesting mechanics, absolutely zero point in it.
And if you have few characters you want to do it on, it turns into absolutely horrendous grind from which there's no escape.
Imo, if you can not be asked to make an interesting duty, just refrain from making mandatory duty at all. Let there be just a fast skippable back and forth between couple NPCs like you did previous times.

Now that that's been addressed- like many people have shared here and in that other thread, I think this event was actually enjoyable. This is the sort of things seasonal events should be; and how they were in years past before they obviously lazily phoned-in everything.
Having said that, my one criticism is that the event is still largely one-and-done with people usually needing only one run of the duty to have enough tokens to buy everything from the vendor. In a way, I suppose that's not a bad thing for everyone, but it leaves me with no real reason to keep wanting to repeat the instance more than once, maybe twice... Which is a shame, because work obviously went into making it.
I really wish they'd put some more trade-in items here if they were going to throw tokens at us like this. They don't even have to be new, seasonal things. But even just specialty items like Material Containers 3.0 and 4.0, or let players buy a selection of all the red dyes, and charge maybe 200 chocolates for the just 1 pot of the new colors like carmine red and neon pink dyes, as examples.
Or make "Valentione fortunes" or something in the same vein of cosmic fortunes. Each spin could've cost 50 to 100 tokens. I dunno. Anything to incentivize people to run the new duty maybe more than once or twice...

It’s interesting how most of the feedback threads on the forum for that event are saying the exact opposite.A timewasting chore. Boring, completely unfun, 10 minute long slog. With a good chance that you will need to waste another 10 minutes to get all the items.

For those of us who have been playing since 2.0, seasonal events used to involve mini-games and event currency that you had to farm over multiple runs. That wasn’t “horrendous grind” — it was light engagement that gave rewards some actual value. You played the content to earn the items. That was the point.
If anything, this event is overly generous. One perfect run gives you enough currency to buy everything. Personally, I think it should reward closer to 30–40 currency per perfect run instead of 150 so players would need 3-4 runs to clear the shop. That’s maybe an hour total over two weeks — hardly an unbearable burden.
What really drains the fun out of events isn’t replaying a mini-game a few times. It’s reducing everything to two NPC interactions that take five minutes and require zero involvement. That’s not better design — it’s just pointless.
Two simple things:
1. Events are optional. No one is forced to participate.
2. If spending 10 minutes across two weeks on light content feels like a “horrendous grind,” then maybe the issue isn’t the event.
Seasonal events used to have personality. Simplifying everything in the name of lazyness doesn’t improve the game — it just flattens it. I’d rather see SE continue reintroducing mini-games like this than go back to five-minute 2-quest chains.

I think otherwise. It was a change in the right direction. I prefer something interactive over the usual "talk to three npcs and be done with it".

I tried it once alone just to see. I could only get one cake too. You get 30 per cake, but it does count partial cakes too. It seems 1 or 2 for each item on the cake.I could see someone coming up short on tokens if doing it solo. I know I did, since there's only really enough time to complete one cake alone. Thing is alone it's the same 10 minutes accomplishing much less progress, so it's pretty boring. With a group it's much more fast paced, and the mammets get more aggressive as you go. The worst run I had with a 4 player group was 3 cakes and that's enough for everything. Most of the time we got all 5 done.
In my experience people are pretty chill about holiday stuff.
