Ok but you gotta admit, the KFC promo with the emote not being available anywhere in NA was kinda ridiculous. And we still can’t get that one here, even though the DoorDash pizza emote eventually got put on Mogstation.

It would have been nice since KFC is certainly available in North America, but no, I don't think it was any kind of ridiculous. I assume there was some legal wrangling they didn't want to do...or they just didn't consider it, which is fine to me. But then, I don't ever participate in these kinds of promotions even if I can--a friend gave me Mt. Dew codes because her family drinks it, there's no way in Hell I would have bought any for myself.

Partnering with Coca Cola is about the best shot SE'd have of reaching as reasonable approximation of everyone as is possible, and not only would it still not work but Coke doesn't really need the exposure! Limited markets are just the nature of these kinds of campaigns.

Usually when they've done these partnerships, the biggest issue has been that most of the world can't actually participate.

the region lock is moot because they can rotate regions or run different events at the same time and have the ability to release the mounts on mog station or in game at a later date. So anyway how long till we get nike,supreme and bape collabs so I can make my character the warrior of drip

They have done promotions with K-Pop groups, though I have the impression BTS is bigger and more widely known than FFXIV. As far as market penetration near and far goes, McDonald's is THE chain; it's not the biggest, but the biggest barely operates outside Asia (turns out, China is a YUGE market). It'd just have to be...is FFXIV big enough to be worth it to the Golden Arches? Little Y'shtolas with your nuggets and fries would be cute tho.
