Plot twist - the city of Ul’dah is a facade and the real city is underground, accessible through tunnels only Lala can fit through.
Like there’s no evidence it’s not true lol
Actually, though, where DID the weird, almost mean spirited sounding memes against Lalafell stem from? I don't actually know why it's such a thing.

I knew they built/originated from Sil’dih but I didn’t know about Ul’dah being already established before they took it over, which does explain why it’s superficially ‘built for other races than Lalafell’ than say, Tomra. Honestly I barely remember much of that lore; did the Sil’dih not have some relation to Mhach as well? Or maybe I’m just assuming because ‘both black mages’ lol.
That being said it’d be cool if (however it came about, echo or whatever) we got to see Sil’dih and they all live in buildings too small for other races to enter. Like Tomra on a bigger scale? lol
I mean I can’t speak for anyone else but I put the /s thing to denote that it was a joke/sarcastic comment not meant to be taken seriously. Personally I think it’s good that Lalafell are shown to have their own unique cultures/architectures/etc and they should use more of it. Rather than them taking the easy route and just having everything be the same size / structure / etc.

They are little amorphous potato people that it seem like a majority will always be on extremes about, either disliking them, or feeling like they are the only race that feels right, which leads to both "racism" and "supremacy" memes, with neither side knowing where to draw a line, and simply because the anti-Lalafell side is more numerous, that side ends up feeling a lot louder.
My only take on Lalas is that after years of watching Lala players unironically demand to be taken serious, I played a Lala alt, and now my ability to take them seriously has been immensely reduced, they straight up have cartoon physics on some emotes...

Lalafell built Belah'dia which separated into Sil'dih and Ul'dah. Both built by lalafell. Or at least ruled by lalafell; they've been in Sil'dih and Ul'dah well and truly long enough for the architecture to reflect their influence, but apparently lalafell like building things much too big for them.
As far as memes against (or for) lalas go...I don't know. I wouldn't find them creepy if the game didn't have dirty old man lalafells and intimations of hyurs and roegadyn finding Tataru sexually attractive. But since it does, and many of their emotes are childlike, I find them creepy and try to ignore them (except on my alt that is always dressed as a moogle--dwarves also mitigate the creepiness somewhat).

There's also a Pelupelu house in Wachunpelo with the same restriction which I guess makes sense since they're another small race.
Personally I think the bit is funny and a neat little easter egg for Lala players - I will however complain about the Pelupelu house having the restriction though because as a minimum height femra.... I can definitely fit through the door, let me in!!!

Maybe we should just accept that there are some spaces that are unavailable to the inferior races.

I could drive a truck through that! There's also a Pelupelu house in Wachunpelo with the same restriction which I guess makes sense since they're another small race.
