I like him a lot as well and it's pretty simply because he's played since the start and understands the things that I understand. As the game gets older, more of the players are newer, relatively speaking, and don't understand the full history of the game, so I appreciate there being influencers that have been there since the start and can educate people.

Also, I have always appreciated him being a tank main. Back in Heavensward, people said horrible things about tanks, and treated us like dirt, dismissing them as easy. But jokes on them: they needed us to fill their parties, because when it came to it, none of them would actually step up and take on all the tank responsibilities that they dismissed as being easy. It was always Xeno speaking up for tanks and showing why they are so cool.

People have always said "I play this role, because all other roles are easy". But if they actually tried the other roles, they'd come to appreciate not only what is easy about them, but what is uniquely challenging about them.

For example, melee DPS have their positionals and uptime that often makes them tunnel. Tanks have always had to position bosses right, mit right, often juggling tank-specific mechanics while doing regular mechanics. And healers, for all their "ease" in dungeons, have to essentially plan and optimize their entire healing and mit rotation for Savage in advance, to prevent wipes to such simple things as a raid-wide or tank busters and this can be a huge part of their actual prog in certain fights.
As for PF and how ppl are, I am well aware. I have cleared 4 tiers in PF, and now I am going for 5th. I have never raided on NA, but EU has its fair share of prog lying Clowns.
I've been playing on both NA and EU this tier. It's the same in both regions. There are definitely way more people avoiding PFs in EU and carefully avoiding traps, in a way that doesn't happen in NA, people just join traps there. It is so obvious how eagle-eyed people are being in EU for trap parties that avoid basic tags or ilvl restrictions or put low-confidence descriptions, because they take an eternity to fill. It also drops off way more after Tuesday there.

As you go through the game and content, you begin to understand a lot. It's not that he started from 1.0, though it does play a part, but because he raided at super high lvl. Doing a first-world runs and progging is a completely different level.

I do have to say that compared to past tiers, in this tier ppl are a lot more unwilling to carry people, and I hope it stays this way.

Honestly I don’t disagree that OP could improve, that’s true for most of us, no? But this whole thing is getting a bit monkaS when people start pulling up someone’s logs on stream. Whether you think those tools are harmless or not, they’re still against ToS, and using them publicly to point at one specific person is exactly the kind of thing that makes SE go “ok they're using these tools for the wrong purpose, time to put an end to it."

Maybe Xeno meant well and wanted to give advice, sure, but with the size of his audience it was kinda predictable people would take that and run with it. That’s why putting one random player under a spotlight like that just feels… idk. If you’re actually in a party with someone and reviewing footage, sure, whatever, but pulling up their logs live on stream is a different can of worms.

This. I agree with Xeno's take, and while I doubt he meant any malice, no big creator should ever - ever - point out an individual person in that way. This is the sort of shit some people would name change ingame over. Since FFXIV forcibly ties your character to your profile and OP chose not to display an alt, this effectively means that anyone from Xeno's large audience could and probably will dunk on them in PF. If they were on my DC, I might've ended up kicking them in PF because of what I know now. That's why you absolutely cannot do this sort of thing as a creator. If an individual user does it, it's cringe, but it doesn't breach containment. This? This is asking for a witch hunt. Intent does not matter when it comes to this — the result is inherently not going to be good.

Midcore is when you take a look at an Ultimate, nod along sagely to a guide and decide to do it when you get 12 months of uninterrupted vacation, which is to say: never.

He put himself in the spotlight by posting about it not once, but twice. I only watched his video after someone mentioned it, and I had already posted my two cents about the OP. I also thought Xeno was super nice about it.

I do believe people should be held accountable, especially in situations like this. Because at the end of the day, while he was salty and annoyed with the fight, he also created a false narrative regarding the difficulty of the fight, which is equally harmful. If a new person comes and sees his post without proper context, they will believe it.

Yet, there's a difference with a person making a forum post and a streamer with (idk how many viewers xeno has) hundreds of viewers bringing attention to said post/person which they might never have looked at otherwise.

PSA for people who "don't consent to appearing in logs" or console players who don't want to be logged

You can actually hide your logs on fflogs and tomestone even if you don't log yourself.

Simply go to your lodestone and add the following to it -

    fflogs-hidden
    tomestone-hidden

Do this at your own risk - You may get kicked from end-game content for hiding this as groups will think you have something to hide.

Also using this as a tool to prog lie to gain a clear or further progression means you deserve to be kicked/blacklisted in PF. It's griefing.

None of this is forced on you just because someone else in your group logged the fight - 2 lines of code on your lodestone and you stop people being able to log check you.

If you hide your tomestone, your name also doesn't appear on any tomestone entries for fights you were involved in.

If you hide your logs and tomestone - You can still see the logs if you wish by creating an account on the websites and claiming your character.

If you hide your logs and still want to be able to review them to better your own gameplay then by all means register to the sites.

Overlooked for exactly what? He continues to prog every single day, M12s, and actively griefing ppl. (2% dmg, 3% healing, getting hard carried)

So what exactly are you saying that shit-talkers and doom posters should just be free to say whatever they want to their hearts' content without anyone actually providing context and a balanced take of what actually happens because they might be overlooked, and at the end of the day, they are providing feedback because they "care"?

    Hard pass.. thanks!

What are you on about? My point was simple: Pulling up a persons logs ON stream sends a message to SE that now third party tools are being used to rate people. Publicly. I do not care that people use logs to learn and improve, I do not care whether you think OP is getting carried, it's none of my business, my point is it's a fine line between saying "Get better at the game" and actively using logs to point out mistakes to 'prove' OP is wrong which in turn will invite a lot of mockery or even in game bullying since his name is available.

Some people never come here, Xeno brings attention to OP, and again, whether OP is right or wrong I do not care about, I'm simply talking about the fact that Xeno needs to be more careful with an audience like his, people have been dogpiled or bullied out of a game for less.

You think I'm defending OP when I'm not, I'm simply not okay with Xeno using FFlogs on stream, publicly, without the OP's knowledge in front of hundreds of viewers.

And I think doomposters and shit-talkers both should learn to grow up and be nicer to others. Saying "I disagree, I think it's fine, have you tried x or y" instead of "I disagree you just suck at the game." would go a long way.

Xeno didn't rate anyone in that video. He looked at some numbers and gave his take on what was happening. He even mentioned several times that he never played healer, but some of the numbers looked odd even to him. How could he provide any context and talk about it without actually being in his pulls?

I actually thought he was super nice to the dude in question.

Generally, Xeno is usually super upfront and has no issue with telling ppl they straight up suck. I prefer that and probably many of his viewers as well, and it's one of the reasons I do like him, and Arthars for that fact, because I think everyone needs to be told exactly how it is, to move forward. Sometimes you need a bald-bearded uncle to give you the real talk...haha
