Final Fantasy & Square Enix Songs (Hidden Romanji/Latin Morse Coded Messages)


I was talking to a lot of players about Final Fantasy 14 and the world record breaking music created by Masayoshi Soken. One of my friends brought up Pink Floyd and the Beetles hiding messages in Morse code when the songs were played backwards or isolating certain instruments in the songs. I tried googling this for not only for the Final Fantasy Franchise, but also all songs that were created by Square Enix, including when the company was split before into Square and Enix, back in 1975.

So, for those that don't know, Romanji is the romanization of Japanese and is the use of Latin script to write the Japanese language. Romanized Japanese may be used in any context where Japanese text is targeted at non-Japanese speakers who cannot read kanji or kana.

Morse code is a telecommunications method which encodes text characters as standardized sequences of two different signal durations, called dots and dashes, or dits and dahs. It is named after Samuel Morse, one of several developers of the system.

At this point, if there are songs from Square Enix with hidden messages, it would be a earth-shattering revelation and one of the best kept secrets in over half a century! Also, if it were in Final Fantasy 14, it would be amazing that data miners and AI have not found it in any of the songs, but at the same time, any messages found in Final Fantasy 14 songs that gave clues, like doing emotes at random locations during certain times, would be completely on the server side to recognize it, and would make sense no one had discover it.

The western responses (or lack of) are not surprising. I’m also on Russian and Chinese social media and have a personal Chinese friend that does cosplay anime and is a top cosplay blogger in China by the name of Seeu Xiaorou.








Having the FF14 mobile version in China, the discovery of any messages using their publicly available systems, such as their AI Baidu system shown in the image, would be very interesting if the Chinese AI systems find something well before anyone in the west. It would also mean a significant global shift in technology.

But what do I know, I’m just a low level carpenter in FF14…

Cool idea to make a post this! I dont know about any reverse played secret messages but some of the in game lyrics are interesting to think and talk about.

White stone black was always an interesting one for me.
Silence makes violence, violence swearing to silence. This lyric to me was an expression of hephaistos trying to cope with killing his wife and silently enduring the mental torment while maintaining the face as the convocation speaker. The silence made him commit violence on in himself by splitting his mind.

The remaining lyrics are really interesting too.
Black mark payback marking time. With a stone of white do we mark up the night . Obviously these lyrics allude to the black auracite that corrupted Athenas mind and the white auracite that would eventually be the down fall of many ascians. It also feels like an allegory for substance abuse.

Shadows shifting paradigm. To the man behind prithee pay no mind! This makes think of hephaistos rejection of his common sense in favor of pursuing his loves ressurection������

I’m going to personally try one of the first songs from ARR and see what it comes up with. It’s fascinating how advance the Chinese AI systems and tools are with Deepseek and Baidu, and the growing FF14 fanbase in China. Very exciting!

First of all, being a foreigner of China, I am very grateful that I was allowed to create an account on Baidu and use their tools. I am also happy that I was allowed to have Baidu links to my queries. To say that I was amazed by the responses would be an understatement…

The Baidu system did an excellent in-depth analysis of the entire game, including every expansion, and even picked out battles. It was going to go even further about FF14, but I was happy with the answer it gave and made me want to play the game even more. Here were some of the responses of 12+ years of FF14.

AI is a tool like a screwdriver, a phone, a car, or fire. In the hand of a clever person tools can do impressive things, in the hands of a not so clever person... the results aren't that impressive.
