Constant maintenance and hotfixes are getting out of hand

Its been a week since the patch and we already have a 5 hour long all worlds maintenance tonight. This is ridiculous! 7.3 had like 5 hotfix maintenances and something needs to change, this is so silly.

FFXIV is a paid game that I would like to be able to play when I get home from work but I finish at 5pm AEDT and servers go down an hour before.

SE either needs to do an open beta for patches or implement them properly the first time. I am giving them my money would like to wipe to Idyllic dream prog please. This is not a small indy dev team.

I can only play on Monday through Wednesday because of my job, and lately it feels like every goddamned week there's a maintenance on a Tuesday or a Wednesday to fix some unimportant menial thing that's been bothering absolutely nobody.

As much as I'm annoyed with constant maintenance, I kind of get it.
The longer the game goes on the bigger it gets, which in turn means that there is simply more stuff that can break on a patch. It's an inevitability of software that constantly grows without some kind of reset.

Could they do a better job with QA testing? Sure, but something will slip through the cracks in a game that has been added onto for 10+ years.

What could definitely be done better is prioritization. Game breaking issues absolutely need to be fixed as soon as possible, but I don't think anyone is going to lose their mind when a fix for a piece of gear dyeing incorrectly gets pushed back until there is more to update.

So in the last six months, there have been 6 content implementation maintenances and 6 emergency fix maintenances. That's 12 maintenances over the span of 182 days. Hardly "constant" and "out of hand".

I honestly don't care. I would prefer they get it right the first time, but people are people and people mess up. I would rather they fix issues they feel are game breaking than let them stick around just to avoid maintenance. I get that it's inconvenient but why are we annoyed at them for working on the game?

Instead of zooming out to play defense for Square Enix, actually look at the data you just posted and see how there's been downtime each week for the past like 5 weeks. It's irritating, particularly when you don't get to play every day and it keeps cutting into the time you can actually get on.
