What part of the community are you talking about? A very, VERY small section of the community even likes Blue Mage the way that it is. You're more likely to find someone who doesn't touch it at all.
The thing is, if they wanted to make BLU into more of a regular Job, they'd need to block off a good chunk of their spells and re-balance a lot of them while they're acting as a non-limited Job.From what I've seen most of the playerbase doesn't. Nearly everyone agrees that having a job that can't interact with the game via normal means is a very bad idea
Unfortunately Squenix seems to look at that tiny portion that does like that and go "We've heard your overwhelming support and will do more like this."
What really grinds my gears is that there's plenty of room for both. Have totems provide DPS skills as you level to allow you to que for dungeons then allow for four checklists comprising of necessary skills to perform each role and a fourth that functions like Blue Mage does currently. The people that want to play normal Blue Mage will put in the effort, the game gets one new job for three roles, and the normal broken blue mage limited aspect is still there. Bonus, since so many skills are just essentially pallet swaps you have a job you can customize that will still be able to clear the bar.
They won't do it, though. Cbu13 really, REALLY likes to tightly control how the game plays and the idea of giving players that much freedom makes them break into hives.
Just a list of spells that would likely straight up need to be tossed out for it would be
High Voltage
Final Sting
Glower
Level 5 Petrify
Ice Spikes
Blood Drain
Self-Destruct
Transfusion
Faze
Snort
Diamondback
Sticky Tongue
Ram's Voice
Dragon's Voice
Missile
Moon Flute
Tail Screw
Peculiar Light
Veil of the Whirl
Protean Wave
Northernlies
Abyssal Transfixiton
Eerie Soundwave
Magic Hammer
White Knight's Tour
Black Knight's Tour
Level 5 Death
Launcher
Perpetual Ray
Reflux
Devour
Cold Fog
Rose of Destruction
Ultravibration
Peripheral Synthesis
Schiltron
Pear Pelt
Deep Clean
Dimensional Shift
Laser Eyes
Candy Cane
Edit: It posted it while trying typing,,,
Also, a lot of the attacks from Bosses would need their potency likely reduced, and White Wind couldn't exist without at least a 3 minute Cooldown.

And your point is?
BLU got boo'd on announcement and it was the only time the dev team got boo'd in fanfest. Why they decided to go again on that with beastmaster is beyond me.
I really hoping it uses whips. Be a new type of weapon.
I would still make the same argument even if it was, cosmic exploration, variant dungeon, or the unfortunately dead content, Island Sanctuary.
Highlighted content SHOULD NOT be at the tail end of an expansion, regardless of how liked/disliked, Loved or Hated.
Challenge the weak to make them strong.

I think limited jobs have potential to reinvigorate old zones if they got special overworld content outside just collecting spells and animals. Queuing into old extremes via pf for blue weeklies is lame. Give special bosses or puzzles for limited jobs to complete for endgame tomestones
I'm like crit melds fine, I wonder when they'll be me mine! penta meld then i hit rewind, to watch it slot one more time and I got thit SODA!
-Reginald Pain #1 on the fa mic, blessed with Hydaelyns might, I'll kill ya on sight... *POW*
It IS pretty weird that some people constantly complain about homogenized jobs yet the only way BLU would work as a regular job is if it was completely and totally homogenized, including a static set of spells gained on level-up. (IE: Customization wouldn't be allowed at all, spell collecting wouldn't exist, and it could only use magical DPS-type skills as per its role.)
I don't think some people realize just how unlike its current self Blue Mage would need to become to make it functionally acceptable in all other content.
Personally, I think that in some aspects, BLU's current state is great, it is legitimately the most fun Job in the game by a mile, the part I don't agree with is Limited Jobs being set 20 levels behind the others, I think they should be always at proper cap, and receive their update at the start of the expansion rather than towards the end of it along other Jobs, but simply remain limited, unable to join things in the High End tab of Duty Finder and so on, it would make the job significantly more interesting and useful.
Personally I would be fine with letting BLU get to 100 and even going into the High End duties. But keep the limitation that they can only go into any content as a part of a pre-made group and if there's a BLU in the party totems for trials and the books for savage don't drop and loot coffers don't spawn.Personally, I think that in some aspects, BLU's current state is great, it is legitimately the most fun Job in the game by a mile, the part I don't agree with is Limited Jobs being set 20 levels behind the others, I think they should be always at proper cap, and receive their update at the start of the expansion rather than towards the end of it along other Jobs, but simply remain limited, unable to join things in the High End tab of Duty Finder and so on, it would make the job significantly more interesting and useful.
