It's 100% better than EW'ssecond tome weaponrelic for sure, I'll give you that. But other expac? Eh... I don't know. I personally never cleared any ARR, HW, and StB relics on patch so I don't think I can make fair comparison. While I think that StB relic has maintained good deal of their integrity, there were just some aspects that I never experienced for instance the no mount + no echo from earlier Eurekan exploration days (that must have been harsh on paper!).
ShB and onward? I'd say ShB beats just about in every phases except the infamous Timeworn Artifact bottleneck & the fact that every single steps that provides "in and out"-options in their inception actively kneecaps progression within the centerpiece content until their later patch adjustments. The saving grace is the content itself providing Lost Action system that greatly enhances intrinsic satisfaction, henceforth bad progression became almost negligible so long the gameplay remains fun.
For DT relics: first batch of steps was criticized heavily - for good reasons. Playing with Lady Luck with no means of bad luck protection is a very hit & miss experience. Probably the only comparable step to this was the twelve atmas of Zodiac Zeta Weapons.
Second batch of steps screamed "Hey please oil those roulettes!! The non-lv100 specifically so the game will look alive!".
Third batch of steps (the most recent) provides better options vs second batch but the progression value are suspiciously still trying to tell you to keep oiling certain roulette. Except now it's worse because they probably did not anticipate the playerbase to manipulate the roulette dungeon pool via iLv cheesing to ensure they never get anything beyond Aurum Vale in the name of efficiency (eugh...). For some reason they managed to recreate the pale imitation of "crystal tower illusion of choice"-meme. Fantastic.
The only saving grace in this step is the fact they gave you choice(s) at all, and all of them are lv100 duties. Sadly they don't come with Logos/Lost Actions to spice up your play, and the one system that supposed to facilitate that aspect turns out to be bland & unrewarding.
Tome steps? Yeah I'm not gonna comment of that $h!t. That style of acquisition doesn't need anymore shame.
