Nah, it's totally fair. We pay money and receive a subpar product, they need to address, compensate, or expect sub dropoff.
My outline for a Chemist healer: https://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/513527-Healer-Concept-Draft-Chemist
I like the captcha idea. I assume the millions of bots logging in as part of a DDoS attack wouldn't be able to click all the squares with chocobos in them. But could something like this really stop DDoS?I agree with you Enno. I, too, want to play a game that I pay for - not sit here and watch a queue tick down. This could all be stopped if Squeenix implemented something like a Captcha. It seems like they "fix" it, only to have it happen again a few days later. It's getting super aggravating.
Oh look its Yoshi P. on a alt account.. The lack of any type of commutation other then the stupid DDOS attack Jan 7 post, its beyond stale and shows just how much the care for there NA player base, The fact this is going on for months for a services WE PAY FOR.. YES we deserve compensation. We didn't force them into that contract.. Yet as all the meme say Yoshi P. kicked back with his glass of wine counting our money.. Bet he gets a raise this year to and a healthy bonus for holidays. And His New Year post was a joke.. Would been a perfect post to address all this but no. (Btw disconnected twice while written this lol)
What sad is the player base its self is having to come up with ways to bypass this with vpns n such.. Time for maybe a Director that only works on FF14?? and not spread between games

pre-2005 SE would be on this like crazy fast and we would no longer have this issue. But sadly we are in the post 2005 era of SE where doing the least for the most shareholder profit is king. Oh, how the mighty have fallen.
If they get bought out by that private equity firm we can even kiss the little we get now goodbye and these problems will just get substantially worse
Oh you mean 5 years before Yoshi P started working on FF14 lolpre-2005 SE would be on this like crazy fast and we would no longer have this issue. But sadly we are in the post 2005 era of SE where doing the least for the most shareholder profit is king. Oh, how the mighty have fallen.

It won't. Other games have done this during attacks and it did not work. Bots can and do get around captchas

Not true. Even if legal stuff were to be entered, you wouldn't have a leg to stand on. Again, I get it, you are frustrated over what is happening. Saying they are doing nothing when you are not there is false. An unhealthy narrative that does nothing for the community or for yourself.
You are welcome to have an opinion on my motivations and on what is happening and what you feel is appropriate. But I am not some champion; I am just another player who doesn't see the point in getting into these kinds of conversations when you do not know the whole story. Until you see under the hood and can actually understand what is or is not being done, you should keep your accusations to yourself.
I just don't see them doing nothing. There is more to this than some of you are leading on.

Please do not engage with the poster above any further. They are either extremely biased to the point of not being able to reconcile reality or outright trolling. Either way it's a complete waste of time.
At this point there's not much left to do besides either spreading info of SE's complete inaction on social media / to content creators you may know or just voting with your wallet. Sad to see one of my favorite games suffer like this, but it's what you can expect from the AAA space in the this day and age.
Hope everyone has a wonderful new year.

Okay, I feel some compensation is warranted. If it were me, I would just offer additional gametime to the playerbase. Instead of doing a refund of lost gametime.
Had a discussion with a few folks last night about this subject, and we all agreed that getting back what was lost, without fault on our part, seems appropriate.
I did notice that other AAA game titles have been experiencing similar issues (like lag, disconnects, etc.), all of which are being blamed on DDoS.
I am not some white knight or hero for Square Enix, and I do not advocate for them.
You assume based on your own bias rather than understanding where I am coming from — be careful how far you take it.Please do not engage with the poster above any further.
