Patch 7.4 MSQ was Good. Bravo.

I've started 7.4 MSQ and I'm really enjoying it. Feels like the first patch I'm actually enjoying since the end of DT. I love the return to a more fantasy setting and putting all the neon-techy stuff like Solution 9 behind us. I think that was a big part of DT that didn't really speak to me. Too bad the end of Arcadion isn't getting the best of feedbacks. :/

And I'm not really sure why about the Arcadion - personally, I loved the ending. I think either the very obvious professional wrestling analogy just went over some people's heads, or some just simply aren't satisfied if the "villains" actually have some redeeming qualities. Overall, 7.4 was a huge hit for me.

Every complaint I've seen has amounted to not "getting" the wrestling story angle, but to be fair, if it's not great on it's own, that's an issue. Still the best series just for those amazing fights and how much character we had.

folks have said it was rushed. i thought it was pretty good. would i have preferred to fight zombie bomber? absolutely. am i glad hes alive? also absolutely. but technically he was a main char within the raid story and ffxiv have shown once again they don't want to kill off a main char. i'm happy with that but apparently folks like angst with their cornflakes.
looking back however we did get all of the info in one go. even in wrestling they don't do that. from what i recall (and i did used to watch wrestlemania in its day) we get a nice build up. is there or isn't there a villain. such as when the undertaker became "good" his manager Paul was shown to be acting oddly weird and the undertaker suspicious. in this story it was 100% villain until the last 5mins.

Krile suddenly questioning if she wanted to leave the Scions or live in Treno felt kind of out of nowhere and ultimately was a nothingburger.
If she had shown any signs of maybe feeling out of place prior to this patch then maybe I would've believed it but kind of felt like a waste of time.
Loved exploring the city however, they absolutely killed it with the environment and lighting. The cutscene direction is still looking great since 7.3 as well.
The end of this patch MSQ has me excited for the game's future story for the first time since the initial leadup to DT.

Krile "feeling out of place" was actually the entire reason she came with us to Tural. She's felt like an odd-one-out her whole life thanks to her flavor of echo and especially lately as the only main Scion with combat capabilities that was otherwise useless in the final battle on Ultima Thule. Then, the mysterious earring and letter, her switching to Pictomancer, and finding out about her family.

Her finding her actual tribe and living family and suddenly not knowing if staying with them is what she wanted was out of the blue so much as it was that critique of base Dawntrail that Krile's development kept being downplayed despite setting up the pieces for this a while ago.

I really enjoyed this. I mean I knew Krile wasn't going to leave but I enjoyed the tension of the moment. She finally got what she wanted and she chose to keep fighting with the Scions (or whatever they're called now).

Dark City Treno was my favorite music in FFIX so when I heard the remake of this I was so thrilled. I really enjoyed that.
