So, what, you're going to keep rewarding the devs for the predatory system by just continuing to pay them? Yikes.

Rewarding the devs? Really? Or, and hear me out: I enjoy playing xiv enough to put up with the things I don't. When that balance tips, I'll leave.
But I still think the things that are bad and predatory are those things and should get better- even if I leave and don't come back. I thought it was bad before I had my nice house, I think it's bad now.
I love that my "I'm frustrated with this and it's compounding on things I'm frustrated with and I'm hitting the point of leaving." Has compounding in your mind to "I hate all this but I'll reward the devs with my money."
Unserious.

Well good luck to you. I don't see how continuing to pay them and praying they will just get bored of taking your money will work, but here's hoping.Rewarding the devs? Really? Or, and hear me out: I enjoy playing xiv enough to put up with the things I don't. When that balance tips, I'll leave.

As an aside neither roleplay nor virtual housing is exclusive to FFXIV so you don't really have any excuses for continuing to support a system you supposedly dislike.

Thanks! I'll continue to leave feedback as I have and quit if I feel it's no longer worth it to engage at all like I said before.
I enjoy those things in ffxiv though. Which is the point.
Since it's hard for some people to get.
Right now the things I enjoy in xiv > Than the things I don't enjoy despite my gripes.
When the things I dislike > the things I don't. I'll stop playing.
Until then I'll provide feedback in hopes that the things I dislike don't continue to grow, and things I like do.
I enjoy my house and my rp in xiv so I stay. I can, and do, engage in those things in other games. So I play those games. If xiv stops being fun enough, I'll simply continue in those games and save the money.
Do you get it now or is that still too much?

To hell with that, I have two Mediums on Maduin and I'm only a day away from giving away the FC one to someone's rando alt who wanted a free house and the personal will get demolished right after since I can't hand it off to someone else.Nah, come on. "You will lose your in-game item if you do not continue to play" is a well-known game design dark pattern to keep players hooked. Artificial scarcity, sunk cost, social clout/resource. It hits 3 of the big 4 categories (monetary, psychological, social). Of course people don't want to lose their cool things they spent both real money (sub) and time (in the form of gil/lottery) to obtain. There's a reason housing is one of the worst RMT offenders.
Housing has to be the most grossly overrated feature in the entire game, and I'm actually looking forward to moving to a world on Primal that has no housing plots (or even apartments) because I'm 100% over how useless and predatory owning property truly is after it kept me trapped on a dead data center for way too long.

I think a main issue is that such complaints, though valid, tend to fall on deaf ears. That is partly due to how little devs tend to listen to players outside of jp and partly how nonexistent such issue is out of jp (ddos/network issue).
It doesn't help that they recently canned a good chunk of their USA division, so there's probably only a skeleton crew running things over there, and their hands may be further tied by needing correspondence with/permission from Square-Enix in Japan to even try to do anything.

I have been wondering if we need to put reviews... or... when there is a livestream... throw demands for answers on there. Since the devs are clearly ignoring the NA side, like most people here have mentioned.
Food for thought. Please don't hate me if you don't agree. I am not saying we MUST do this. I am just throwing out an idea![]()
Speak out: SE Livestreams, CC tournaments, encourage creators to bring it up during interviews with Yoshi-P.
I’m under the belief that every live event, review, and tech support ticket matters. We are quite literally losing the value of the product we paid for, on top of a monthly subscription and the price of the expansion, all because some node in Texas isn't working with NTT?I have been wondering if we need to put reviews... or... when there is a livestream... throw demands for answers on there. If I’m assuming correctly—or maybe it's their server infrastructure—all we know is that something is going on on their side, and they clearly haven't done enough to mitigate the issue.

People already do that. For example, they've spammed live letter chats about job changes they don't like. Mostly, they don't read out comments from the stream (they only did that a lot during the pandemic), and when they do it they usually read the Japanese comments. If they read an English comment they obviously cherry pick one that is cosy for them or read it in a way that shifts blame away from SE like "NA has been getting DDoS a lot recently".
Now, if certain content creators like MrHappy or Preach bring it up, they will definitely see it. There is a proven influence that they have, because they changed the alliance raid ilvl cheese after MrHappy brought it up and they repeatedly prioritise Preach for interviews. So I
If there is a significant enough volume of tickets about it, they'll also struggle to ignore it as well, because they will have to tell their superiors it's a big burden, and those superiors will have to flag it up to the top.I’m under the belief that every live event, review, and tech support ticket matters.
Just stuff like "can I have a refund for time lost due to DDoS" or "can you help me, I keep disconnecting every 9 hours along with my entire party in the middle of raid prog" or "my solo DD run got ruined, can you restore my save file please". Those support tickets will go nowhere, of course, but it'll create noise that is hard to ignore.
I think all of this is already happening, by the way. They most likely implemented the DD change to help with DDoS due to tickets they were getting. They most likely report DDoS on the lodestone as a result of getting tickets about it. Because ones which don't affect a lot of people go unreported on the lodestone.
