They like to surprise us with the final raid and boy was I surprised. I did not expect a big worm at all. Got me again, Yoshi.
I think the story was fine though.

Apparently yes? Some do genuinely get along just fine outside of work. They're actors as much as athletes, though the latter is more important in most cases.
You see a monstrously huge and evil guy in the ring and he goes backstage and hugs his wife and kids to reassure them he's fine after a loss. Wrestling has developed its own gimmicks. Brute actually does lots of iconic Japanese wrestling heel moves and finding he's just a guy was the expectation.
The ending is still vastly superior to the popular theory is was all fake and we were in on it the whole time. I like the idea that these fighters realize they're sick and getting sicker but have their own reasons to continue their role in the leagues. The fact every fighter is a entire character at all is attention to detail I greatly appreciate.
Also, the implication is "Everything Burns" is OUR Arcadion theme song, not the Lindwurm's or President's. And I will also defend the Tyrant's theme. I loved it.

Its about as toothless as the rest of dawntrails writing

I do realize that most wrestlers do not have a rivalry outside of the ring
My issue is that the illusion was broken when everyone was in character, it just completely ruins the fantasy
Maybe this makes it sound silly (to be fair, wrestling is campy) but it makes it feel like Brute Bomber the bad guy never existed, it was just some guy
I think I would have liked the ending more if the president was still played up as a villain and his true intentions were only reavealed back stage once the fight was over
Then it would actually be an interesting twist instead of it being a case of "Hey, you know this character you were introduced to 5 minutes ago? He's actually so cool and important and good, it's so sad that you have to kill him, right?"
If you're going to exposition dump about a character and then kill him so fast then I'm not going to care

In many cases, they actually do, especially if they are babyfaces. Sometimes, a heel may turn babyface after the match is over by hugging their opponent. To give an example, you could have Brute Bomber lose and then they hug out of respect for the might of their opponent and realizing they are right. But usually that would entail some sort of massive character shift ie. they might strip their gear and not be a "Brute Bomber" anymore and would make it less villain-like.
But of course, they don't always hug. It just depends what story they run with.
That was always true in the past. In recent times, they have to accept that people know it's an act/entertainment due to the internet, so they are more willing to show the behind the scenes to the public, but they will usually be pretty distinct about when it's the show and when it's the behind the scenes.Admittedly, I'm not really a wrestling fan, but from what I know they have to keep up appearances and the story going while the cameras are on
I get that but to see it that way ignores how it's a story about professional wrestling. Many people think wrestling is fake as well. But what they have to understand is that movies are fake as well. TV dramas are fake as well. Movies are shows, TV dramas are shows, and wrestling is a show. Likewise, the Arcadion is a show, and you an actor/performer. No different than a circus. It felt very unrewarding for the story to suddenly go: "Oh, this thing you've been invested in? Completely fake. Oh, and I hope you enjoy the lore dump about how this was orchestrated all this time"
The best part? The Arcadion story is better than anything wrestling shows manage today. Mainly because they can do things that wrestlers can't due to it being a game and the feral souls, but also they just flat out put more effort into the story than wrestling companies do today.
Zoraal Ja did have top scientists working on that. Except the feral souls overwhelmed their lab (we fight them, including scientists). And of course, Zoraal Ja had no interest in revealing the negative effects of it to people. He didn't actually care about their lives like Sphene does.
The reality is that humans overlook things a lot as well. I have learned a lot about health, diet and nutrition over my life and it has become painfully apparent how many things I know that everyone else doesn't.
You would think that top scientists would know what I do, but they don't and it's bizarre. What I know WILL be known by everyone in a few hundred years at the maximum, but it's shocking how much humans overlook. As it stands, drugs are used to treat so many conditions that I know how to solve without drugs because of my extensive experience experimenting on myself with diet and nutrition.
Humans will pour all over the next hyped health concern or cure that goes viral, and ignore all the others. Because humans only know what they know, and they don't know what they don't know. Scientists are a bit smarter than the general population (you can see they know things that the public don't when reading studies), but they overlook plenty of things or misinterpret their own results sometimes as well, because they are human.

I thought they made it pretty clear 'Brute Bomber the bad guy' didn't exist after the first fight with him when Metem or whoever says the part where he got disqualified for using illegal substances was all part of the show.Sorry, perhaps I worded it badly

Sometimes dudes hug, even if it breaks the illusion

Brute Bomber has xpac heat anyway

Yea the ending was kind of lackluster. Everyone survived and are ok and only 1 casualty. It kind of devalues all of the stakes of the arcadion. I dont understand why the writers are afraid of writing meaningful endings with sacrifices involved.
