Really skizzle you complain about 7.4 and you sit in limsa all day and do nothing all day

Honestly, Dawntrail and 7.1 were a mixed bag for many, and even now some people's continued disdain for the game since DT launch has gotten exhausting, atleast for me. So, it is refreshing to see most of the folks in here interested in what is to come, even if they know it wont fully fix what occurred.
SE cant change what DT was, but I honestly feel they have been making changes in the right direction. I dont think everyone expected them to magically fix that overnight though. Members of my household and FC are waiting to see what 8.0 delivers before they decide if they are done with the game or not but we all really want to see them succeed and return to form. That's not copium, its honesty. We love(d) this game, so why would we want to see it fail? We're giving them a chance to course correct. If others are unhappy with the game, then its up to them to decide if they have had enough or not.
Sadly, if other people's commentary is bothering you, then I implore you to to avoid it where possible. You'd be surprised how many prominent FFXIV influencers I have unsubscribed from because all they have done is belittle the game's flaws for the last year. I still like the game and want to see it shine again, so I avoid their videos and rhetoric so I'm not getting exhausted with the constant and often unwarranted negativity.

I find this a bit flawed. If we can't look to patches to fix the direction of the game, does this mean whenever we get a lackluster/bad expansion we are just supposed to throw our hands up for the next ~2 years and say "welp better luck next time"?
7.4? no no no, 7.4 cant save ff14 because 8.0 will save ff14. we all know it 8.0 will bring the big changes for jobs, it will add a ton of shit and we all gonna love it. it will be incredible. we all will be happy with anything in the game and once more sing praises for yoshida. you will see! 8.0 is the saviour.
so yeah. case closed!

By expansions I don't mean X.0 patches. I mean when "they are planning to address XYZ", I generally think it should be fine to look at it in a 1-2.5 year timeframe, which is somewhere between half to a full expansion.
For example, Yoshida was giving feedback prior to Endwalker that they want to use the 7.X series to improve raid content in retrospect of Endwalker raids having been too simplified. So it would make sense to evaluate the success or lack-thereof (YMML) with Arcadion being released as a whole. So far it has definitely gotten a fair bit better and more interesting ways the raid deals with the party has been introduced. Alternatively, it could have been much worse so it would not have been correct to judge too heavily when for example only the Light-Heavyweight tier was released.
In light of this, anything he most recently has said that they are working on, it would be prudent to give them a few patches and some time to get it right. From what I gathered reading the interviews, they only fairly recently had a change of heart to a lot of design philosophies, so it will likely take a while before they get things right to a satisfying degree.
This will matter regarding upcoming Main Scenario Questlines, 8.X being the supposed expansion where they want to focus on job identity and other grander features - the change will likely be gradual, but hopefully steady and not with steps going backward.

Hey im just here to say. sure 7.4 wont be the god send be all end all but dang.......GLAMOUR FREEDOM BOYS LETS GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My checklist this month is:
Try new PvP FL Map
Logout
I would hope people are getting more out of the patch compared to a lazy person like myself, I'm practically paying to dodge content at this point.
Nobody says that 7.4 fixes the game, thats just the voices in your head. The core problem isn’t a lack of things to do. It’s that almost everything funnels into the exact same formula: log in, do the patch content, clear it in a week or two, then wait. If you’re not raiding, the game increasingly feels like a checklist MMO where the long-term systems barely evolve. If you are raiding, the rest of this patch just feels like filler padded out with copium.
If you do no activity that is very time consuming like higher difficulty content or PvP, you are going to run out of content, that's true for every MMO.
Can't wait for the Forum post on the patch day of 7.4, that the person already finished the patch and when asked about farming extreme or doing pvp he's gonna say he doesn't do that.

Yeah I don't think 7.4 gonna fix the game but I'm also somewhat excited for it because it gives me a reason to log in rather then not.
I've accepted for a long time that ffxiv isn't likely to change much at this point.
As someone who has taken many long breaks from FFXIV if it doesn't really interest me at the time and I don't think anyone said 7.4 or even 8.0 new expansion will "fix the game." Also, I still login to FFXIV even on normal days because I genuinely like and enjoy the gameplay even if I'm not doing any high-end content or PVP goals because I find it fun. So, if FFXIV is no longer fun for you personally, I'd just quit and move on from the game like others.
No one on the forums or the rest of the internet is here to fight you about an MMO you don't enjoy playing and why you should remain here like truly, it's a MMO meant for you to have fun and not be stressed out over new patches soon.
