    Some players need to chill

Last night I decided to jump on for the first time in a bit. Decided to run a quick leveling dungeon. Wasn’t bad but there was one player in my party that decided to do nothing but complain in the chat the whole time.

Now I don’t know what happened to this community. Maybe it’s just the server I’m on. If so I’m considering changing. I just don’t have time or patience for this level of bs.

So here’s what happened. We were running the dungeon, I was on tank. Normally, I’m pretty good as a tank. But I hadn’t played in a little while and the particular dungeon we were in I haven’t run in a long time. Forgot some mechanics ya know. It happens but it’s a leveling dungeon so we will get there eventually. But there was one player just going nuts in the chat. Talking about how they were gonna report all of us and everything.

Guys, seriously? Are we really going to stoop to this? I thought this community was better than this. Ive noticed this happening more and more over the past couple years. Gotta say I’m really over it at this point. I’m a vet so I can take it but that behavior will turn off new players instantly. I left other gaming communities for toxic behavior like this.

Rise up, players. Be better than this. Assist struggling players. Don’t attack them. Because this post is the last time I will be kind about it. So chill guys. It’s just a dang leveling dungeon. This community used to be so kind and patient. I remember seeing posts here about “if you’re new and there’s a cutscene for you PLEASE feel free to watch the cutscene. We will wait and it’s not a problem”. What happened to that? You were ALL new at one point. You all needed guidance at one point. Stop acting like you didn’t.

I don't think it's fair to put the entire community in the same sack just because you had a bad experience immediately after coming back... these players that go nuts over the smallest things are fairly uncommon (only encountered 2-3 in my 5 years of playing so far) so it's just a matter of reporting and moving on. Sometimes they will listen to reason or shut up eventually, but if they don't we have the mute filter now that you can use by clicking anyone's name in the chat.

Welcome back btw. I hope you have a good time besides this!

The vets are mostly gone. The mmo players that are chill are mostly gone. This is the result of the past 4 year general direction. They wanted to attract and please other type of public and got the public that goes with those.

Had a similar experience not too long ago, surprisingly also while tanking. Got snapped at for not interrupting a basic trash mob (lvl 70 dungeon, it was literally no big deal) then they started throwing a fit and told me to heal myself - yanno, a GNB can totally do that - and started pulling extra packs ahead. Asked him twice politely to not do that, it did not matter. I will be honest, the way the guy bitched us other 3 out was kind of jarring. For no reason. I think we were more confused than upset.

Took a year break myself as well shortly after DT's launch and just came back about a month or so ago. I'll say I have never had a reaction like this in a normal ass dungeon. FL? Sure. CC? Oh yeah all the time, sometimes even in ARs when a party or individual causes a wipe, but a normal leveling roulette? Man, not even during the WoW exodus with folks being unfamiliar with the general attitude difference between the two games.

That said they are also still few and far between. The positive, fun chit-chats are far more common, especially late at night when folks are loopy as hell. I hope it stays at this level until we get our announcements for 8.0 and possibly get some of the core base back. Just hang in there. Best you can do is laugh about it. Takes a special kind of person to throw a fit over a minor inconvenience like the stuff you described. Be aggressively friendly and kind back to them. Pisses them off and is a good example to others.

I was playing random DPS in a level dungeon couple days ago, we started and immediately after the first pull the Healer said something along the lines of "Messy pull, no mitigation, I'm out" and quit out O.o
The amusing part was the pull was fine and didn't need mitigation, no one died, I couldn't even see what they were complaining about

Anyway that's one single experience out of dozens of different roulettes and dungeon runs, so it needs to be taken in perspective. There are always going to be those types, but I wouldn't say it's "the community"

Also, if players submit false reports ... this leads to a punishment too if the GM finds out on the person's account, so I wouldn't stress over it.

It's always happened on occasion. If they say something rude or insulting, you can report it because that's against the rules. Other than that, it can take a while to get over it sometimes but you will and most roulettes are uneventful.

It's also entirely possible that nobody died because the healer blew every cooldown they had just to keep the tank standing.

Now obviously I don't know what exactly happened but the only pull that "doesn't need mitigation" is a single pull and even that is debatable.

For everything else a tank should have a list of cooldowns to cycle through, starting with heavier mitigation since most enemies are still alive and transitioning to weaker mitigation as they die, while also keeping in mind what mitigation they will need for the next pull.
The tank's job isn't just to stand there and get hit, but to smooth out the damage curve so the healer doesn't get a heart attack from sudden damage spikes.

If it was the case of the tank doing a full pull and then not using anything I can understand just not wanting to deal with the tank's health bar doing it's best yo-yo impression.

As for the messy part, all I can really think of is either the tank not picking up enemies properly, you occasionally get one that single-target attacks when there are 4+ enemies.
Or weird movement like pulling a pack, stopping in the middle of the pull and then randomly starting to run again. All that does is pull mobs out of AoEs and the range of the DPS, making them unable to attack and waste their damage buffs.
