Midgar in FF XIV, (Dawntrail spoilers)

Personally, I don't wanna see as much as a rotary phone in my fantasy RPG for a while. I know high tech has a place in Final Fantasy, and Allagan stuff has never felt out of place, but Dawntrail took it a bit too far for me. I'm glad some people are enjoying it, but I'm so ready to move on.

Allag, Garlemald, et cetera were thoroughly integrated into the rest of the setting even when they were pulling from other games. S9's integration was closer to Nier's than anything else.

Solution 9 feels more like Coruscant in Tron than anything ever in Final Fantasy. FFXIII was a consistent world, and high tech made sense there. I don't like that Electrope has become the means to introduce whatever crazy tech they feel like putting in the world.

Thought Solution 9 would be midgard ish. Seeing how the blue quests mentioned monetarists capitalizing on the new world which would open up for one of them to establish their little stronghold over there.

I agree it's odd getting an FF8 cameo for the 8-man trial of an FF9 themed patch in the FF9 themed expansion.

i wouldnt say SHB was heavily ff8 referenced. I guess doomtrain was chosen because they already used 6's and a train boss fight is cool. They could have gone with Ark from ff9 though, but maybe they are holding that for later.

ff8 is my favourite so im definitely Nostalgia compromised.

One of the few summons we have left to pull from pre-existing material. Makes sense to me. Just look forward to the second remix of Force Your Way I guess.

I believe this makes Pandemona the only FF8 summon that has yet to appear in this game. On the music front I'm not averse to getting another Force Your Way remix but I'd prefer a remix of one of the three FF8 battle themes that haven't made it into this game yet, or hell, a remix of the FF9 boss theme since we haven't yet gotten that one either. I'm expecting it to be a battle remix of the Heritage Found theme tho.

Maybe I'm A Lion and Man With A Machine Gun both already have a sound that I think would work well remixed for the Doomtrain trial.

Oh but you just tipped me to the amazing possibility of Doomtrain's theme being a remix of Smile.
