Exactly. Unlike WoW or GW2 or so, FFXIV is already optimized for just hammering the same 2-3 buttons until you fall asleep (current healer gameplay, it's just that 2 of those are damage abilities not heals) or performing the same 8-step rotation with no exceptions endlessly (all current DPS jobs, sadly). All difficulty and combat mechanics are in the fight design, not the classes.

So if "princess healing" in the derogatory sense is possible anywhere, it'd be here. Not in GW2 with it's lack of pure healing except on the ranger (and even that is stretching the definition a fair amount), and certainly not in WoW where you got a ton of stuff to do on top of spammy healing (so it gets the best of both worlds in that regard, you're focused on healing and you also do other stuff in-between). But as you say already they're sadly also axing that. Maybe this indicates games should look more towards the GW2-model of class design especially for tanks and healers? I dunno.

I never said they came during the exodus period, obviously if they existed since ARR that wouldn't line up. What I think instead happened is that the princess healers who were doing "fine" during vanilla WoW and TBC got skill-checked out of WoW by the time ARR rolled around.
So they were already looking for a new MMO where they could continue to do the only thing they learned.

Leave it to Blizzard to learn nothing from the mistakes they made themselves before.
They already tried the oversimplification back in Warlords of Draenor and then went even further with it during Legion and Battle for Azeroth, which they then had to walk back at the end of that expansion, but apparently the company now has collective amnesia.

So the players who didn't come from any period with disproportionate movement specifically out of their earlier MMO nor specifically to XIV... must have arrived to XIV via that MMO?

And if they got skill-checked out in Vanilla, how would it make sense to call them WoW players? They'd be players who tried it and fled.

While if they got skill-checked out in TBC, that's still 6 years before ARR launched. 6 years of playing nothing, a period lasting far longer than they'd have touched WoW.

So again, why the fixation on WoW? It's still coming off as a weird obsessive demonization.

You could as easily say they'd all come from EVE online, which is why they'd get stressed by real-time combat when shit hit the fan, or that they'd come into late-ish ARR's endgame content after previously playing ESO since they'd previously only played for story and then been drawn by the promise of XIV's story once they'd been opened to MMOs. They're all vaguely plausible, but having certainty in any of those origin theories, let alone that a whole classification become a byword for an intentionally terrible player comes predominantly from that particular game, just seems nonsensical.

"Knowing better than our customers" is obsolete.

"Knowing better than our own experiences with provable causes" is the new sniffin' glue.

If you're not dpsing in wow as a healer you're doing something wrong. This is not 2005.
