How you imagine yourself in 2027 in XIV what are your plans?

If you don't mesh well with them for, whatever reason there may be, then that's that. They aren't obligated to tell you why if it's the group who decides against rather than the individual deciding against the group.

Being courteous should just be a given, of course. But being friends is not necessary. Most good -- solid -- groups are a business first, not a clique first.

I mean, what Kohashi probably meant is that they won't spit in her face and tell her to get lost just because she's deaf. Unless Rinoa specifically depends on callouts - which she won't, for obvious reasons - there shouldn't be any major issues just because one person isn't in the VC. Just like Kohashi said before, if PF can do it, and we all know how poor PF's communication can be, then I'm sure she will find a group that fits her.

Having a hearing disability doesn't stop her from doing anything you mentioned, and there are many groups out there with many different dynamics and goals. To you, a "good" group may only be business first, but that's not necessarily the truth for everyone.

I never saw applying for groups as a job interview, but you do you.

It does, however require a lot more commitment than if you simply go into PF since 7 other people depend on you. Groups have a few unspoken rules and some that are well-determined before starting, such as pace, progressing, preparing, and studying the fight, using SIMs where available, just to name a few.

As for groups, it can go both ways; you "interview" to see if they are also a good fit for you, as they test/determine if you are the right fit for them. It always goes both ways.

I used to just apply and simply go with the flow, but after a fair few odd experiences, I decided to always test /trial the group first and then make a decision. Especially if you are looking for a long-term group to just do stuff together. Long-term groups are very hard to find because you need to have a good synergy, and synergy is tricky.

What I meant by that is that in PF, you have no callouts or somebody to remind you of a stored mechanic, for example. In PF, you are 100% responsible for yourself.
The main reason you join a group is that, in theory, it's easier to progress the fight since everyone will have the same prog point, and also you do not have to sit in PF for the party to fill.
So overall, it would be a better experience; however, if you have an irregular schedule and you don't mind waiting and the variance in skill and prog points, then PF is a viable option.

Even in those cases, I've seen people use macros (or just sacrifice a GCD and write it in the chat) so people who are not in a VC or otherwise may not remember can keep track of it. Happens a lot in the Chaotic PFs I've been in!


Unrelated to Kohashi's message now, but what I meant by PF having poor communication was just how they can't even settle on which strat to use sometimes... at least with a static you all decide on one strat and you don't have a guy throwing a fit because he has to do color pairs, but in his waymarks he's yellow and in yours he's purple (and they're both in the same spot, but somehow that's enough to cause multiple wipes... no, I was not traumatized by P9S memes at all, don't worry about it...)

Either waiting for 8.0 while not being subbed if it hasn't released at that point or two possibilities:

1st: 8.0 is not a disappointment, story is good and they fix enough grievances I have with the game, content and so on. That would mean I would probably play FFXIV.

2nd: 8.0 is disappointing, story is meh or bad again and they fix nothing that needs fixing / adressing / improvement. In that case I'll uninstall FFXIV.
I give them till 8.0 to get their shit together. If they don't wanna I am gone.

This is our reality and I hope the devs understand the situation throughly. DT is essentially a 1.0 reprise in the mess that they made and if 8.0 doesn’t blow it out of the park similar to how 2.0 did, then this is endgame. While the game will not instantly die, it would be moving into maintenance mode territory hard and fast.

I still have hope for 8.0. But, with the budget cuts they are facing, I am deeply concerned about the future.

I worry especially about the new player experience, too. I hope that if they have a "big combat rework" stored somewhere in their sleeve, it's making the new player experience as solid as they want the endgame to be. I think both are so important.

All they've said is that there'll be a job overhaul that emphasizes skill expression and unique identities, but also that people who like jobs as they are now won't see much change if any. They're in no hurry to clarify what it means because it keeps people busy trying to decipher Yoshida's nonsense and arguing over whose interpretation is correct.
