The sheer amount of vitriol contained in spamming 'good job' was a lesson learned after matching with someone a second time who had seen a complete newbie stumble in half blind to casual. Pity the teammates had to suffer, too. Perhaps one day, I'll touch PvP again. But right now - and I feel silly for saying so, the thought of being marked/shamed by a frustrated player induces a sense of anxiety. Don't have friends who pvp in XIV either. Guess it just ain't for me. C'est la vie.
For those who have the backbone, be good to have a safe spot; would suggest some kind of mentor arena if the community were the sort to utilize the mode enough to justify time spent on it. Hall of the Novice, PvP edition?
