Again, Soot Black, the darkest possible color, has always been the hardest color to achieve. Since that's everything perfectly maxed out, and there is a lot of subtle RNG with how much each fruit increases or decreases in a category, you will land on all sorts of super dark colors INSTEAD of the black.
I don't actually think you're doing anything wrong. Follow the calculator's recommended feeding order, and if you're off, try again as your chances will be much better.


Don't reset to yellow after you've got to brown or midnight blue--light yellow is much farther away from black than brown or dark blue is. You'll need less fruit to get to black from a dark brown or dark blue if it didn't work.
