WAR don't get changes because they don't need changes. They only need more enemies to cleave.

I say that because they mainly flirt with other cultures not really touch on them. It's understandable but never executed to the extent which I wish.I hear ya it's cool. I agree the job has lots of room to flesh out. Also the Chinese vs. Japanese thing isn't really something to worry about in this game. We have tons of Chinese inspired equipment and the devs aren't shy to including various cultures into their game. Final fantasy has always been a mess of different cultural and mythological references. A lot of creative liberties are taken with them but they persist. Anyway, I think the elemental infusion and counter attack gameplay would be the main focus of the jobs combat design more than the weapon. The weapon i just feel fits a tank focused on mobility, crowd control and flashy damage.
Ok we got a start here your goal: high CC, mobility, and flash animations. A tall order to ask here since CB3 gutted cc but I digress. This is your idea and I want to help you flush it out. I are moving towards a mystic knight, spell blade type of deal with counter attack in mind. Funny it reminds me of old drk a bit but again I digress apologizes for the redundancy. Let's hone in on the weapon. Since that is a major part of the jobs identity.
- no big weapon
- ascetic has to be cool (we will need to define this)
- has to be different from other weapons
Sorry if this is overwhelming, the game designer in me kicks in but we will start there
Free the Glam!, Duel Pistols (Gunner)?
Geomancer
-Similar to an earth bender. The GEO would be a high speed melee focused tank. Your abilities would protect you with stones as defensives and weaponize them for offense.
-Your long cool CD would be turning yourself into a stone golem. It would be slow moving and act as a massive shield that provides a regen while active. The golem form can be dedicated to do damage and gain a movement buff until next action to allow for positional recovery.
-Play style would be a fast lower damaging tank that uses a similar play style to MNKs old feather footwork/haymaker. You use TBNisk CDs to get reprisal damage buffs. You can also consume the shields to buff damage as well. This is how you’d scale your damage to match other tanks.
-Gauge would build of CD usage/consumption and attacks. Gauge skills would consist of damage and utility.
I’m sure I could be more exact if anyone else supports the idea.

Ok a transformation as an invuln/ heavy damage reduction ability is really cool! I like your idea a lot.Geomancer

Honestly Its an interesting idea but I think players would cry how it exasperates homogenization by literally copying other skills. However if given enough creativity and thought it could make for a super fun and unique mix and match job with different build/aesthetic options. I also like the mime outfit in ff5.
