MEGATHREAD: Requested Hairstyles & Facial Hair

so, i am a bit irate.

if you guys have seen, FFXIV mobile has been getting many things that we have been wanting.



this has been a hair that i have been wanting for the entire 11 years that i have been playing. hoping one day i would see something like this in game.

mobile gets it first? are you kidding me? i know so many people who would want this hair!!!

Errrrrrrr tf?? Why does ffxiv mobile have better hairs and options than us. Also am i tripping but does the graphics look better than our game too??? Like the bodies and skin looks more hd?

It might be my generally worsening eyesight, but textures look not as much "better" than more "soapy smooth" to me. And personally I'm not actually sure if I like that effect all that much.

Technically, they aren't getting it "first." They're a separate team that merely have a license to use the FFXIV IP. The game also runs on a different engine entirely, so whether or not something can come to the main game from mobile really remains to be seen.

that would be because they're running off UE5 to my knowledge. personally i don't like it everything looks very blurry and bloom-y.

yeah i made a thread about it. it's being shoveled out by a studio working under Tencent (eek). the hair in that game could be using a lot of bones, but we did get more bones for hair with dawntrail so i believe it to be possible.

my pipe dream is that they will rework character creator for 8.0 and we can use all the different kinds of hair customizations like they have in the mobile game. like bows and metal motifs etc.. that won't ever happen though.

To be fair, it should look nice on phones (which is what the graphics were adapted for in the first place). I'm not really a fan either, but smooth graphics do tend to look better on smaller screens.

Yotsuyu's hair is amazing. I like how sharp the ends of her hair are. Bonus points if they could place the highlights in the inner layer of the hair so we can cosplay as Stocking lol
