Someone is allowed to change their mind when they reach a point in the grind that does not feel well tuned. They don't have to pick a single lane; just because they were content with the first step doesn't mean they have to be content with the second.

There's hardly anything different about what's being asked of the player. In fact, this is even easier than filling the aetherwells. That's the issue.

OP literally just said they don't feel rushed in this step; the expectations were manageable, and is doing roulette content that haven't been seen/done in years. So it hardly makes any sense that when it's suddenly now collecting 1,500 Heliometry tomestones per weapon (just like the last step, mind you, nothing new there) instead of filling another aetherwell, it's "ridiculous."

What makes collecting 1,500 Helimetry tomestones (off of different roulettes, which was part of the step the OP just praised?) so different from reaching 9999 four times in an aetherwell off of 4 specific roulettes? You essentially can accomplish the same thing from the same roulettes, if not more; Heliometry tomestones are rewarded from nearly every roulette.

Nobody is rushing anybody to collect all of the relic weapons from this step. Collecting these particular tomestones is managable (doing all the available roulettes in a day will get you almost halfway to 1,500), and you can still do the roulette content you enjoyed and more from the aetherwell portion. Almost literally nothing has changed.

If the argument was about it being yet another tomestone hand-out step, yeah, there's a point to be made there, but it's not. OP just wants it down to 500 tomestones, which is basically a free relic weapon per day. It's nothing about how "well-tuned" this step is. There's nothing legitimate about that gripe.

You absolutely can change your mind about things, but it's actually quite hilarious to do so within the span of a few days after singing of its praises repeatedly and over something so trivial and similar to what you were already doing.

So, should they design relics with players going for 20+ weapons in mind? Yeah… probably not happening. That would completely dumb down the process of acquiring new relics. It's already tedious enough at the present.

The time it takes to earn 1500 Tomestones only feels long to me because I've been doing this grind since 7.0. That patch had no relics, but it's what happens when we're farming capped Tomestones for gear anyway. The process is the same throughout the entire expansion: dungeons with 6 mob packs, and fixed rotations on three 2-minute bosses. Supposedly jobs are being simplified because of harder content, which makes the easy content end up feeling really bland. No variation, the content has no life.

They should bring back the back the books from the ARR relics, where you needed to complete 9 books that required you to hunt various enemies and complete some dungeons, FATES, and leves. Oh, and charge you 1500 tomestones for each book.

I do think they should reward you with a free relic on whichever job you select. Just make it a separate quest exclusively for that purpose because it does feel kind of bad you do this massive grind for essentially the privilege of buying your reward.

Otherwise, getting the tomes is not that big a deal. Doing almost entirely roulettes and maybe four hunt trains, I already have five. And that's with me skipping some roulettes like leveling, MSQ and High Level.

I'm still baffled like how is 1.5k helios a massive grind when everything gives them and there's nothing to buy except crafting mats, which tanked a few days ago. Also to avoid over-capping them during the aether farm, I'd trade in a portion for said mats to sell, and I had always over 1.5k of them.

Finally, I'm able to gather 1 new PH wep in 3-4 days, which is much faster than anything else for a decent weapon it's great if you don't do high-end content.

Honestly if you still trying to clear M8S for some reason, the weapon might be better than Aug. Historia even for that, it depends on the weapon of course, but since the relic provides two full substats plus two Materia slots, it can be a strict upgrade, DNC for example, has the same substats on the Umbrae and on the Aug. Historia, which makes Umbrae strictly better by simply giving more of those substats.
