500 tomes, 1500 tomes, 2000 tomes, 3000 tomes, 6000 tomes..
It honestly really doesn't matter, as IMO the tomes are the problem, it's not asking you to do anything that you've not already been doing in spades.

Guys like you are the reason we can't have anything mmo in this mmo. This discourse is what lead to this "nothing to do problem". I'm not a fan of the tome grind, for each step, I'm more an Eureka weapon guy, but man we don't need ease getting the relics even more.My RPR relic is done. I did my Aetherwall to 10,000 across the board, my balls are now full.
Except now I have to farm 1,500 tomes per weapon.
This is ridiculous, it should have been gil or a substantially lesser amount of tomes.
There's too many weapons in the game. Even more than Endwalker, and I farmed every single stage of those bloody Manderville weapons.
For me to have put this much time and effort into getting the weapons, they should be more accessible.
REQUEST: I'm asking that you reduce the amount of tomes that are needed per stage. You can always adjust this in a subsequent patch.
I'm hopeful that you make this change.
You want tome weapons, go buy tome weapons. Even if this steps fails to motivate me to progress, I'll still take that over what we had in EW. At least you see yourself progress with every roulette you do, which is far better than the atma rng mechanic. And now you want to make it even EASIER to get a relic.

You're hopeful that they'll make this change? Don't bring your hopes up about the reduced tome changes. I don't even bring my hopes up for anything with the "I hope" or "i hope so" in this game. They always turn out a disappointment or never happens XD but hey, one can dream lol
Nah, this will change, in 8.0 it will change to Poetics, still 1500, but there is nothing worthwhile to buy with Poetics anyhow, other than gear for the jobs you are still leveling.
Single grindy step followed by tome dump is honestly a decent way to do relics at this point, I'm fine with it, its only really a grind if you are going for all of them.
I haven't even done mine yet, I have like 4 of the materials but lol, I've been spending my time doing FATEs to make money off of the ones who buy from the Marketboard. Relic isn't going to run away. I'm still gathering the dumb manderville ones as we speak cause I often forget that I'm tome capped.
Through twilight, we endure.

Pick a lane.Despite the game burning all around us, I'm still enjoying the relic.
I don't feel rushed, I feel the expectations are manageable, I'm playing roulette content I haven't seen in years, everything has been going well.
I'm hopeful that more relic steps are like this. It's not punishing but it does take a lot of work to get there.
Cheers to the developers for this step.
When DT becomes old content, those weapons will require Poetics instead. And if 1500 Poetics is too much for you, then I'm beginning to wonder if you even play the game at this point.
I'll just respond to this one given it's at the top of General Discussion - Reading through this thread and several others on the front page, I understand why 2 large communities I've been in have announced they were quitting / leaving / disbanding after several years playing the game citing it was hard to log in and playing FFXIV was the only time they felt depressed. Honestly I feel the same way and am just powering through the last few Ultimates I have left to check off without even farming them as closure. The remaining community is so hell bent on telling people to stop complaining or leave whenever we have legitimate gripes that it's hard to remain invested in a game we've played for years.
I still stand by what I believe is the biggest problem even if it is a major contributing factor (The lack of content and being made to repeat old content we've done a thousand times before is no longer fun, and the lack of anything innovating other than FATE chasing 2.0 or 3.0 to supplement the grind as well as some extremely awkward systems and questionable boss / dungeon design choices have yada yada everything has complained about). It's in fact the community, how obnoxiously fast and aggressively they are to cast out their own and label them when they're no longer enjoying the game or have some gripes about the direction of the game, how fast people are to dogpile on the guy who has criticisms of the endgame gameplay loop. I won't get into how fast people are to dogpile onto people who have beliefs and political leanings that aren't extreme left and fail the purity test and how the dev team has encouraged this behaviour but that's another can of worms that contributes to it. The FFXIV community is an extremely insincere, cult-like group that instead of encouraging discussion or acknowledging that things could be better, or the fact that better already exists out there, immediately resorts to raising pitchforks and witch-hunting people.
My sentiments from the last year or so has been pretty much the same as - FFXIV is an incredibly depressing game to log into; Anyone I enjoyed talking to is "On a break" or no longer plays the game. A lot of people remaining playing the game feels like walking on eggshells to not upset, so you never really get to have fun playing with them and bantering with them. I ultimately agree with the reasoning of the OP; If you're going to respect people's time and add a tomestone step identical in price to EW's relic weapons AFTER a large grindfest to unlock it, at least reduce the price of each weapon so it doesn't feel like the dev team is completely out of touch with the playerbase. The fact OC offers nothing feasible for the second step and is completely omitted is already extremely telling.
Someone is allowed to change their mind when they reach a point in the grind that does not feel well tuned. They don't have to pick a single lane; just because they were content with the first step doesn't mean they have to be content with the second. But this thread was from you like 3 days ago:
