I don't think people are against a new race. what I think is really happening is people want the game fixed and other problem fixed before having a new incomplete race. like they now started to fix Viera and Hrothgar after multiple years.

Except that a race is not truly fixed in the eyes of the fanbase. Every time a race is "fixed" someone finds a new problem with it regardless of how minor and insignificant it is. So the idea of a new race seems to be extremely out of reach ATM since players are still unsatisfied with the current ones.

One could say being able to equip all the hats everyone also can, as well as all the hairstyles everyone also can (with the exception of racial hairstyles, of course), would be the bare minimum to consider a race complete. Unfortunately, Viera and Hrothgar have been waiting to be complete for years and years, and it is not a minor or insignificant thing for them, understandably. Whenever a new hat/hairstyle is added but Viera and Hrothgar cannot wear/use it, it feels like a punch in the gut for them.


After that, I think everything else falls under personal preference. Yes, of course I'd like for more different scale patterns for Au Ra, or to choose the horns independently of the face, or to have scale gradients like Mide and Yugiri do. Of course I'd like Midlanders to have a "half-elezen" optional trait like Hilda's. Does it mean those races are incomplete without these? I don't think so... though of course I'd rather see them added someday.


I think it is perfectly understandable that most people would not want to see a new race until Viera and Hrothgar are on par with the rest of races. I think it is also perfectly understandable to prefer to have more customization options for the existing races rather than a completely new one, considering how SE has treated Viera and Hrothgar since they were introduced.


With that said, discussing and dreaming of future races is free and entertaining! :P I'd love another tiny race, so I can continue to give them massive weapons and release them to strike fear into my enemy's shins :3c

most people want more races outside of Forum talks lol ask people in game and discord it's well established that people who sit on these forums when a person brings it up all you get in forums is this needs to be fixed or that and like theres proof on the forums of this that regular people don't want to join the convo and honestly new races interest people out side of the game not just the people already playing. like honestly I came in and expected most of these convos and was in a discord convo when I made it. I hope the next expansion goes great I really do and I do think more options should come but I think when people come here writing the same things found on other forums for there point of view it just hinders things. If Square Enix did a poll on adding a new race We would get the lovely answer to this question so fast

We must return to rat! I was hoping that we would see something akin to a Burmecian since this xpac was IX inspired but alas it was mostly techo stuff. Still want to play one.

Burmecian would be a cute idea. How much taller than a lalafell would they be? But also unfortunately we'd probably have to longer for the hair and hat situation to be fixed up before they decide to go with ratfolk and that silhouette. Rat.

it took them to 7 years to even get to some of the hats finally in game and several years to access some hairstyles hrothgar and viera. Still not able to access all hairstyles and hats yet either. so be silent you potato.

i love my hrothgar, but i wish they'd add lupin and give them lots of customization. it's a shame we don't have a wolf race.

I am here to talk about the lottery system, it painfully doesn't respect a persons time and takes a whole week to process.

As far as I remember, we wont be getting aany new races. They said that Hroths and Vieras would be the last ones because they are too difficult to make and they'd like to focus on classes and balancing.

which is laughable, seeing how WoW keep spewing out new subraces every 2 expacs. Considering how ffxiv races work, the only things unique to each of them are heads, textures and racial scaling (minus lalafells and male hroths/roes)

We didn't even get the whole new races - we got half of them, and then a half of one and the half of another (and they're still unfinished).


So yeah now we wouldn't get any new races, we still have to finish the ones we "recently" got, but also classes are similar to each other and balancing is questionable at best. Win win
