So, I get what SE is doing with both allowing the actual relic steps for the 1st weapon you make and then allowing you to buy the rest of the relics with tomestones.
But first off, the problem there is that you don't allow players who WANT to do the actual relic step for their other relic as well, but hold your horses, the new step is actually just tomestonegrind as well in different visual.
So while players WOULD want to do generally fun relic steps manually, it's also bad when the relic step is actually mascarading as something else.
So for those of you who don't know, other relics also had a similar step called "light farming", and when they released they were also limited to duty roulette until eventually those got fixed and you were able to do pretty much any content for the farm.
Now think about how stupid that is.
They already know from past feedback on relic steps, that this "light farm" is actually one of the worst experiences due to it's limitations of what you are allowed to do for it.
So players are literally stuck in duty finder thinking this is somehow better than if it was just tomestone grinding. Atleast with tomestones you could do hunt-trains as well.
But I guess SE tossed out the memo that the point isn't that it's tomestones, the point was that even tomestone grinding felt monotone at times, and it ALSO holds your tomestones hostage for the relics, so you're missing out on other gear if you buy the relics instead.
Add to that the fact that you are doing duty roulette where you actually get tomestones so you're just doing the same god damn thing you were doing regardless.
Please for the love of all that is holy, if you're going to implement a system, first implement in the way that it is portrayed in the game CURRENTLY, don't go back to the old way of limiting it only for duty roulette and then IMPROVE it.
But nope, instead you did the smallest ammount of work possible and slapped on a relic step from god damn Bozja and called it good.
Time to wake up and actually try to improve the gameplay experience for your audience.
