One thing I remember from ARR is that tanks and DRG used to share gear. They were happy to give that "spiked" look to both of them. I can't complain about it, personally, because it means I can use the look I like on one, on the other as well.
I'm kind of glad that gear is separated when it comes to names like "fending, healing, casting"
Since it makes it a a bit easier for it to go to the job that obviously needs it and it kind of prevents people from fighting over gear.
I mostly tank so in alliance raids it's a bit easier since I'm technically competing over 2 other tanks. While a healer has to compete with 5, while a dps unfortunately has compete with 14.
Personally I prefer it much better than wow where you can lose a upgrade to a bear tank as a rogue simply because you both wear leather.

Why? I mean seriously why?
New content comes out but people cant play it ASAP because of gear. Why?
To me what it looks like is, the only reason is LITERALLY TO keep certain players out for a while. Or to flog bloody crafted gear. And as people already know. I'm not interested in crafting, and I'm not interested any of the gil farming methods, not a one of them is both convenient and fun.
Well... Ok then.
Bye I guess.

(back for the free 4 days. M1, M2, M3 were great. Monster hunter normal trial was amazing. But until X-DC PF is implemented and the casual game is invested in, there is no point in making new social contacts that will leave again, so while I've had fun re-running instances until I've got one piece of gear, I'm done after a day, and I've no reason to sub for even a full week.)
That is straight up wrong and at this point you should really think about it if you ever played the game. Why? I mean seriously why?

The Requirement for new Stuff is ALWAYS under BiS Itemlevel, the only expection is Ultimate otherwise its always under the BiS you can literally with crafted Gear clear all the Content until next crafted Gear is there

I am saying this for years now: Tomestone gear should be nerfed. The tomestone gear is simply too strong and too easy to get. It makes basically all other content, except savage, dead on arrival. No wonder casuals have no content when there is not even an alternative to "do expert roulette 5 times a week".
FF14 doesn't necessarily need more content, they need to use their content better. And the first step would be to get rid of the overpowered tome gear. Tomestone gear should be the base line, on the level of crafted gear, not the end goal.
It’s a good thing not to answer your enemies. I scarcely ever do. Perhaps Emily is more like me than I am like myself. Perhaps she would rather not answer her friends, even. She keeps it all in her heart.

Listen, they need you to stay on that treadmill doing daily grinds so new players think that we are doing lvl 30 content with a lesser kit because we want to.
what content are you being kept from? I am seriously asking because the only instance where bis is needed are literally ultimates which is something you’re likely not doing, and it is something that so far is happening like twice in an expansion lifespan. Even Chaotic wasn’t requiring bis. You’re not required to buy a crafted set either to join savage for as long as you have upgraded tomstone gear from last patch. Why? I mean seriously why?

But why? exactly for the things you’re claiming right now. You would be artificially kept away from farming content because pf would require full tomstone gear. Because savage would be trivialized (it is up 2 weeks after major patch mind you - enough time to grind up tomstones gear if it was uncapped) or if SE actually thought it would be even harder so there would be people complaining savage is either too hard or has too high requirements for these who don’t have time to grind (and trust me not everyone who raids has a 9-17 job that gives them time to grind even if they have 2 weeks for it).

As others stated, purple in FF14 is for relics. You can just look at your average iLevel to get a sense of progression.
If you really want a color then go with something other than purple. Maybe orange like the color for exotic gear in Guild Wars 2 or even bring back the pink color from ARR days.
Here's my suggestion: Instead of changing the color of anything, we start introducing the concept of Relic Armor, not just weapons.
You realize that they're not going to give us all the pieces at once right? Meaning that if you want Relic armor you would have to work on each piece individually.
No one's going to do that.
