Assume for this that red is fire baiter, blue is ice baiter and green is the other players.

For fire, they are correct about the line up and the gap between players in that line, yes. If you stack for fire, then 2 of the furthest players are at your position, so two fire attacks will hit you, killing you. Additionally, let's say you did stack and you stacked too close to the middle, it would hit the players in the middle, killing the entire party.

For ice, the two players furthest from the middle can be stacked, but the person closest to the middle (who is baiting) must be closer than them both.
