Dungeons of 3x3
Design your savage first and throw a normal together with whatever time is left over.
Alliance raid that are just... recognisable as alliance raids.
just give people and infinite treadmill for Exs
Jobs that are all the same because that makes tuning ultimates easy.
Don't really make an effort with the QoL changes (graphics was actually a lot of effort. Ok I'll give credit for that. Over a 10+ year period that's not really stunning though)
MSQ with barely any voiceover.
Fetch quests and more fetch quests.
Reskinned mobs and reskinned fates.
Exploration Zones that are basically optional as to whether they even appear in the patch.
Reskinned restoration, that pretends to offer engagement, but only to the addon and bot developers.
Reskinned deep dungeon.
Somec more leap of faith.
We've done without netcode fix for this long, so we can do without.
If you get an itch on whim to do something like adding voice-over to mahong or triad or something, knock yourselves out.
Do another maps. You have a pretty good idea how much those take to dev.
A couple of ultimates. Its fun for the encounter designers. Meh. World first is never going to take off because no-one can follow that DDR stuff but. Meh. It flew before and it'll fly tomorrow.
Really. Just don't bother changing 'how' you "make content optimised to cost as little as possible,". Your already doing that, and it's not what people want.
You've already streamline homogenised the jobs, DON'T now homogenise and collapse the current current contents also into single contents.
People actually want more better variety of content. That's the only thing people want.
Now, you can expand each content into greater breadth of difficulties but you CANNOT COLLAPSE them, or cut them.
ITS NOT GOING TO WORK.
So.
Just do what you really, truthfully, really want to do.
Which is just keep it optimal.
Hit those existing budgets.
Doing the most with the absolute least.
Don't change anything. It will only piss off the last remaining players who prefer and have been recieving , the same old same old.
For as long as 'optimal', or 'efficient' is anywhere in your 'goals', 'objectives', 'rules', you will continue to fail (for those that consider the current state of affairs to be failing).
By all means stick to budgets as an objective.
But if you want things to change, 'every' design rule that is some version of 'optimal/efficient', has to go.

(back for the free 4 days... worth of content. Figured I'm owed at least that much after wasting 1 months sub prepping for Chaotic, and then another month coming back for admittedly great CEs but 0 reason to do them in the first place. Certainly not the story.)
Honestly one of the few things I liked about the Chaotic raid was that I wasn't required to look up a certain Hector strat, but instead had to practice with everyone else to overcome it.
Nowadays, I look up the new extreme trial and find every party with the description: "Hector strat", like man that's just boring. And the fault is on the devs for letting it happen.

I'd rather have more reaction-based fights like they make Alliance Raid mechanics and less puzzle DDRs that requires you to check 134 variables before deciding where the safe spot is.
No wonder why Barbariccia EX is regarded as one of the best trial fights ever made because it actually balances those aspects without leaning heavily to one or another.
Difficulty is what they talk about?? The game needs better rewards if you do max difficulty of these "new" dungeons do we get best in slot gear? maybe if you do easy enough it gets the same gear? how much of a time sink will this content be?
if they listened to any of what the community said they would remove the tome caps, remove the weekly savage lock outs, they are really unneeded.

I swear sometimes it feels like Square hates making money. They seem directionless and stuck in bad habits and old ways not just in terms of FFXIV.
Who in their right sane mind would ever release anything console exclusive in this days market for example.
All the money they blow on sideprojects when they could futureproof FFXIV in a major way. But they still have this absolute DELUSION that somehow tossing FF-remakes out will somehow save the company.
I don't see anything innovative from this new CEO either.
If less content better everything else that's fine but we don't need a variant dungeon, deep dungeon, exploration mission and crafting location every expansion. The exploratory mission the way it is set up if a forked tower run is going on it screws over the rest of the island because of those nasty ce's you put in with higher difficulty. I don't want to see the second iteration if it is just more of the same. I have no idea about how the variant and deep dungeons will turn out, but if its anything like the rest of the expansion i will not bother. I honestly wish you would stop deving dawntrail and start devng 8.0.
