Facts! I play a Male character not a female character.. I refuse to put a damn dress on my guyI get it, more diversity means more happy players. I'm not against it, but I wish I had at least an option. It's insufferable to see certain outfits or even raid glamour created for female characters and just slapped onto males. I dont want to dress my character feminine, please give us better options. Thanks.
Where did they ever force you to wear a dress tho? Are glamour prisms not affordable? Are you unable to use the MB to find other glams? Did you never do the glamour unlocking quest in ARR? Does the sight of other men wearing shorts, dresses, skirts, or robes deeply offend you in town, but you don't understand how Blacklisting works? Is there a lack of thousands of long pants and shirts in-game that it's not enough in 2025 for men?

The two faces of the FFXIV community:
"We shouldn't have gender restricted outfits! Why are you forcing these old and uninclusive ideas on me?! if I want to wear a dress/pants I should be able to! Fashion is the true endgame!"
"There are no male or female clothes, clothes are just clothes, if you don't like it, find something else and glam over it. No one is forcing you to wear anything."
I know it might be surprising, but we can hold more than 1 idea at the same time, even if some parts contradict one another about FFXIV.
And that would make sense if you could figure out how to make grey from your arguments, but its always black or white depending on the question being asked.
As we have seen multiple times over the years "I don't want to be confined to gendered clothes, let me express myself freely" is met with pleas to the devs to make unisex or 2 versions of the outfits. But the seldom "I want to express myself, let me have clothes for my gender" posts we get on occasion is met with "no one is forcing you to dress that way, find something else to glam over it" which makes 0 sense since they have the same answer. That plea to make 2 versions or unisex versions should be the answer to both and would be if ppl were in any way aware of their own personal bias. So, yes you do hold more than one idea at a time, but its whichever idea most closely fits your personal narrative that gets the supportive, positive responce. Everyone else is met with hostility and needs to just deal while sometimes being labeled with really harsh titles even if their only intention was just wanting pants. Which was the same intention of the other question.
And considering that the shapes, styles and cuts of so many garments in this game are 100% made for the female form in mind, leaving ppl wanting more masculine clothing with a lot fewer options, the answer again is very obvious if you look at them subjectively.
Non-gendered clothes has unfortunately lead to the developers getting lazy with it and making female clothes and putting it on the men over and over again rather than making both a male and female set and making that equipable by both.
The FFXI Dancer set that we just got has a fantastic male version that we'll never see in XIV because they'd rather just put the girl one on men and call it a day. I find this sad because I prefer dressing my character in pants rather than skirts.
Anyway, I absolutely adore the new alliance raid aiming gear and I am incredibly grateful that it looks the same on both genders. It feels really bad when gear completely changes based on what gender you equip it on and it's one of the number one things I think they should stop doing altogether (I am condescendingly glancing at the new PVP pants. I'm so sad I can't wear those short on my male character; especially when I see other people modding them onto their male characters while I play on console).
In an ideal world they would release multiple versions of gear to cater to different aesthetics, however because they do not have the resources to do that, the next best thing they can do is alternate between aesthetics. They can’t make everyone happy all the time and I think people just need to accept that sometimes they are going to release a gear set you completely do not vibe with. I think the tanking gear from the new alliance raid is super ugly, but that’s fine. Someone likes it and not every piece of gear needs to adhere to my personal preference in fashion. At the end of the day I think all glam should be able to be equipped on everyone and look relatively the same on both genders. I think the new aiming gear looks amazing on my bunboy and I’m very happy about that.
2 different versions like we see with the dancer AF gear would fix that but then we have the bunny femboys screaming again.
Genderlocking gear isnt too bad. If someone has a problem with not being able to wear a bra on a bunny boy, then this person should maybe change to a female viera and roleplay as as male character instead of forcing feminine clothing on every male character.
No one is forced to wear anything but the default underwear and sandals. I hope this helps!2 different versions like we see with the dancer AF gear would fix that but then we have the bunny femboys screaming again.
