Wouldn't you guys be disappointed if Ninja is a class and Samurai is its job? Wouldn't you want to have Ninja and Samurai as separate jobs?
That's my biggest worry about the class --> Job system. I'd rather we have 7-10 classes and jobs being a combination of those base classes.... maybe have 2 jobs stemming from classes. I wouldn't mind if a Marauder could become a western fighter "Warrior" and and Eastern fighter "Samurai" as opposed to having another class for samurai.
Also, a scout class can become either a thf and/or a ninja.
The only problem that this may present is that if you alrady have the bases class at 50, you get the corresponding job at 50, without having to level or learn the job. But, that's what we had when 1.21 came out. Many people got 7 jobs without ever having to level anything. That's not necessarily a bad thing.

I would personally love this, and wouldnt mind at all, because then it would mean Ninja is optimal for solo and wears specific gear and Sam is optimal for Party and wears its specific gear.
The down side is no AF, but im sure they would make something just as good like the new specific class gear.
That being said on the rest, I believe a RDM and SMN is in need, i just dont know what their base class would be, I would expect Arc to be the class for RDM Job as its related, for SMN, it should of been conjurer cuse of the spirits, but isnt, so i dont know, they will have to bring out a new one or something.

I would be ok with it, but for the sake of argument, maybe Ill title my idea something more like Assassain/Ninja (it will still be very thief like though). Because a lot of FF titles kinda of merged the 2

i got the same fear too Zell with the current class-job system, eventually shit will hit the fan and either classes or jobs both become redundant by them being unbalanced from the roles they are suppossed to be. like for instance gla, its not really a dd but a fairly ok tank. pld on other hand is even less of a dd and a bit better of a tank. (kinda sorta!) so in the end whats the difference between the two, they cant dd but they can tank decent maybe the fact that one can solo or survive a bit better then the other given a certain situation. something SE should do is refine the class/ job system. example gla should use multiple weapons, each weapon when used plays a certain role, daggers would be a fast dd & enmity transfer, shield & sword tank, great sword heavy dd. three jobs thus could branch off from one class. the class can play the role of either a fast dd, tank, or heavy dd. but the jobs will use one weapon and play one role and that exact role only to a degree higher then that of the class thus allowing it to remain useful while the class also to remain useful because it too can play that role but to a lesser degree and still play other roles also thus protection it from becoming redundant. example someone could play gla class using 2 daggers and be the fast dd & enimty transfer or they can use thief job for instance and play that same role too but better then gla can since thats all what thief will do. same with red mage ppl want it to be hybrid heal/buff/debuff/nuke/light dd cant really have that now due to the fact thm nuker/debuff/little bit of heal and con heal/buff/little nuke also. red mage would have to be a class thus allowing players to play mutilple roles from the mutliple weapons it would use, each weapon allows it to play a role, and with this mutiple jobs could branch from it and play one role and that role only better then red mage can but red mage is more broad by playing mutiple roles keeping it important and the same for the jobs like what i pointed out in the ladder with gla and its corresponding jobs.

@stanleyyoung please make some paragraphs ; ;
I hope they make some type of Merchant class that turns into muskateer? can use guns/hand made bombs of different elements and can also get discounts buying stuff or get a bit more gil selling.

I hear a lot of people saying they hope musketeer is a job, which I'd be ok with personally, but there's the issue of it having a guild. None of the jobs have guild halls, just classes. I suppose a retcon or some sort of lore for the reason it changed in 2.0 would handle that well, but I'm not sure.
I'm not even sure which I'd prefer, job or class. I just want a gun.

musketeer class-Corasir job!
Maybe Merchent into Muskateer would work i dont know....I hear a lot of people saying they hope musketeer is a job, which I'd be ok with personally, but there's the issue of it having a guild.
