I hope the devs are listening. We need the devs to please listen.
It's not like we're stuck choosing between one or the other. Wuk's problem isn't that she's new, it's that she's horribly written. The writers pushed her way too hard and her story had no cohesion, and in the process painted her into a corner where she really can't be redeemed without creating some sort of jarring narrative whiplash that would make people even more fatigued with her. I think people would be perfectly fine with the Scions by and large taking a backseat since they are pretty played out, but the replacements have to be compelling in their own right.I don't know what people are excited about Wuk lamat goes? and what then, we go back to travelling with the scions who don't add anything interesting to the story? If they add a new "protagonist" character it will fall into the same error as DT made where that character has the majority of lines and interactions because we're still insistent that the scions come with us to say some one liners instead of a interesting new cast of characters.
The story cannot thrive as long as it depends on dragging along the scions, Not to say they can't make a appearances at points but the story needs a focus on New characters instead of one new character who takes up the majority of screen time because the scions don't actually add anything of relevance to any cutscene.
Unfortunately I can see CS3 playing it very safe next expac, and if they stick with Hiroi being the lead writer, we can expect the same quality we saw in 7.0, so we'll get both clumsy and nonsensical character development along with bland concepts.
That would involve writing some sort of payoff for a plot point and we all know Hiroi wasn't about to let that happen. If it's not an ass-pull, you can forget about seeing it in the story.I would have enjoyed that. I am sure Thancred and Urianger would love to test themselves against the WoL even if they both know they are hopelessly outclassed. They'd still put in a good showing and it would be fun for all of them. Plus, it would be nice to see a hint of Thancred's "WoL has gone rogue" contingency plan you know he has.

Also, we've never had a boss fight with a dedicated healer involved, have we? At least not in the MSQ. They could've had Urianger use some real bullshit since he could use things like the original Nocturnal Sect being a better shield healer than Scholar was with contant regens on everything and broken buffs and debuffs.
/Loudly sighs/
OMG!Wholly different note, but a personal disappointment was that we didn't get a trial/solo instance against Thancred amd Urianger, or really any genuinely active contest against them despite the pre-expansion stuff putting emphasis on the heated rivalry we'd have (we didn't) with our fellow Scions... But Wuk Lamat got one against Bakool Ja Ja.
Thank you for reminding me that I'm still pissed about how the whole "Scions Divided" arc we were supposed to get turned into a whole bunch of nothing.![]()
Abso-freakin-lutely!
You know it would be something wild and cool, like Batman having a contingency plan for every member of the Justice League.
One of the biggest disappointments of the expansion. Makes me wonder with how much it was played up if that *was* supposed to be a bigger part of things and Hiroi and the others cut it out and there wasn't enough oversight to make sure they were including it.Wholly different note, but a personal disappointment was that we didn't get a trial/solo instance against Thancred amd Urianger, or really any genuinely active contest against them despite the pre-expansion stuff putting emphasis on the heated rivalry we'd have (we didn't) with our fellow Scions... To be honest, IF the story had taken us in the direction of combat Vs any Scions, I would've preferred Estinien over anyone else. I feel like he's the Scion who'd give the WoL the best 'run for their money', personally.Wholly different note, but a personal disappointment was that we didn't get a trial/solo instance against Thancred amd Urianger, or really any genuinely active contest against them despite the pre-expansion stuff putting emphasis on the heated rivalry we'd have (we didn't) with our fellow Scions... Well, if we had some rivalry between the Scions, it would have taken away from talking to wuk lamat in wuk lamat XIV : wuk lamat.
