I will never understand the seething hatred people have for Wuk Lamat. Like, you'd think she was Cersei freaking Lannister, with the way people act but no... She's just sort of annoying but largely inoffensive.

that's what you think. She will leave her brother in charge and decide to follow us forever
I feel like the majority of reasons she gets most of the flak is because how omnipresent she is in the story that she becomes a scapegoat to players' dissatisfaction whether or not they actually stems from Wuk Lamat herself or no.
Dawntrail presents multitude amount of narrative issues but if you ask general player what they feel in a literary discussion, it's normal to immediately latch onto any 'easily identifiable/noticeable issues' (i.e. Wuk gets too much screentime) while missing other less obvious but equally important issues (i.e. writer uses Wuk carelessly by bending the sense of continuity that the previous writer had established from ARR to ShB/EW to ensure Wuk gets the glory in the Rite of Ascension/Alexandrian arc).

I think it has partially something to do with the VA. Remember when He/She (Sorry, im to this day not sure if its MtF or FtM, lmao) called the entire Community racist for not liking the song "Smile? Or the times it started insulting people for criticizing the voice acting? "SPLEEEEEEN"
Or you could discuss the on-going issues. Like, I can tell you, easily, the issue that I think most people really have with Dawntrail; it's after two expansion that are largely focused on the Warrior of Light, returning to the older method where we're just along for the ride feels a bit jarring.I feel like the majority of reasons she gets most of the flak is because how omnipresent she is in the story that she becomes a scapegoat to players' dissatisfaction whether or not they actually stems from Wuk Lamat herself or no.

With so many screen time given to her (which by itself is also an issue)... yeah, not surprising. Understandable and unfortunate circumstances.
That could be a reason to dislike the VA, but not the character. But I imagine she's a bit defensive online because of the sort of folks that call her an "it". (It takes like five second to Google what she wants to be called but I guess that's too much.)I think it has partially something to do with the VA. And considering how Dawntrail's voice acting was a mixed bag all around and improved in the patches. I'm pretty sure that "SPLEEEEEEN" line was a problem with the voice direction.
Either way, i just hope this unnecessary hate for Wuk Lamat will stop. We have enough going on right now, and it's best to drop it and move on.
When you suffocate the story with the presence of said character, then you are already going to give people a bad taste... Coupled with the fact the VA essentially called a community racist for not liking the song and/or not finding it an appropriate song to use when you are quite literally building an explosive train....
And the quality and consistency that you'd expect for a character that was as omnipresent, just wasn't good enough.
Yeah, I can easily see why people feel the way that they do

But can we be sure if she said that? I mean this is the internet we're talking about. So this might be misinformation to throw us off. When you suffocate the story with the presence of said character, then you are already going to give people a bad taste... I mean there are plenty of youtube videos about it, forums and constant internet talk no? Is this going to be another one of: ''This has to be yet another miss translation for 6xxx time".
People hated Wuk lamat first for gameplay, constant quests dragging with: ''speak to wuk lamat, speak to wuk lamat again, speak to wuk lamat once again''. Horrible quests. Then the VA came and insulted people on twitter and there was a huge backlash on this. Normally this is why you'd get the hate because you just fuel fire into this even more. Same thing what happened to other VA who tried to be smart.
If that is the cause, i see that both party are at fault of the hate. I mean let's be fair, this could have been avoided if people would look at this with cooler heads. Now we have this back and forth, since Dawntrail.I mean there are plenty of youtube videos about it, forums and constant internet talk no?
